How long is the piece of string every bird is different, some moult quicker than others and some start earlier than others. I put my FHH down to moult last year on the 5th March and she didn't drop her first feather until 26th March. I pulled her out of moult on the 13th August so roughly 5 months it took her.
  7. Dont forget the RSPB is a charity its all the tweeters that put their hands in their pockets
  8. I could try and find out for you Chris, we have quite abit to do with them on the farm
  9. The RSPB are still using the good old chestnut that Peregrine falcons are endangered and need to be protected by public funds. The truth is that Peregrine falcons are so common they have reached saturated point in some areas in the UK. Peregrine falcons even nest in London as wells as other cities in the UK. Note the previously mentioned maxim is confirmed by David A. Stroud Senior Ornithologist UK Joint Nature Conservation Committee correspondence below. It could be argued that the RSPB without any supporting evidence is trying to generate hysteria to collect 2.4 million from the Animal Healt
  10. I got 2 hood from these the quality is top notch, its not cheap and nasty equipment neither
  11. Consultation response: English Nature ref. 02/03-178. REVIEW OF BIRD REGISTRATION & SCHEDULE 4 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 This reply represents the combined views of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and the statutory nature conservation agencies - Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and English Nature (EN). Whilst this review does not cover Scotland, the views of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) have also been sought and incorporated. This response addresses the key points raised in the consultation paper. The main objectives for Schedule 4 listing JNCC
  12. From what I have heard DEFRA is running the show. I think the RSPB have got alot to do with it all and by the sound of it the JNCC will back them up

  14. That will be more fun I have never got a straight answer from them or 1 person will tell you something different from another I'm not sure they know themselves what they are doing. Its a waste of time looking on there website because there isn't much on there. I would of thought if it was going to happen we would get a good few month notice but there is nothing on there website as of yet.
  15. If there is a charge for A10s would this mean I would have to pay £25 for an A10 on a "3 handed bird". As you are aware the UK is the only EC Country that has the Registration system and it has been long outdated so removing it can only be a good thing. DEFRA are looking at different ways in which to protect the trade in birds like Peregrines and I am sure you will find that there will be changes in the Article 10 system such as Transaction Cert's for some birds. Transaction Cert's have already been issued for Golden Eagles in the UK even if they have been proven to be bred in captivity
  16. Am I right in saying from October 2008 we no longer have to pay £17 for a registration document, the breeder has to pay £25 for an A10 if the bird is to be used for commercial purposes within Europe, but if the birds are exported outside of the EU the birds dont require an A10. I hear something like this from a friend

  22. Ok has anyone ever got caught regarding Section 5 (1)(e) of the W&CA 1981 ?
  23. Yes mate I know but I wasn't doing anything wrong I was just doing my job. I was surprised they pulled me off road in the middle of no where good thing really I suppose.
  24. Yea but what would happen if you got pulled by the plod. I remember when I was out lamping Charlie's in the middle of spring about 6 year ago and a copper from the dog section came ofter us off road stopped us in a middle of a field the dog running loose thought we was poachers took the registration plate, checked the tax wanted to know who's land it was and the telephone number of the land owner they even rang the head-keeper to make sure all the info was correct. I had to go to the cop shop the day after to produce my driving license and FAC it was just hassle so that was the end of lamping
  25. Fair enough but you wouldn't drive about on a by road shooting rabbits with a rimfire out of the window were everyone can see you off road maybe.
