First run out brought a mixed bag, a good morning and a poor afternoon, still lot of young bunnys about, going to leave it another couple of weeks, 13 in the bag. Young bitch a bit rusty and missed a few runners.

dogs that have done 30+ rabbits in one night

This sometimes depends on the terrain and the rabbit population, taking 30+ rabbits in certain areas on the lamp does not take an exceptional dog. A few years ago in the borders of Scotland the rabbit population was teeming, less than 30 rabbits on the lamp was considered poor, purely down to the volume of rabbits, some as green as grass squatted so the percentage of large runs was reduced, many never bolted for cover when the lamp was shone over them, over time they did become lamp shy and make it more difficult. Good stuff mate, nice to hear the little dog is coming on and im sure she will make the grade. I often take a mate who shoots but it is well organised, my old black ACD would sit beside you until you shot a rabbit then sent him for it, the youngster hasnt had that training or experience yet, but come September she will. All the best WR.

Got the looks and markings of both my old ACDs and the only black ones in the original litters, not sure if the speckle is from the Dalmation hahah.

One has speckle on its chest and legs, one of the mainly black ones.

Mates Bitch just had 12 pups, 2 died, other ten doing well. Dalmation/Bull/Grey, Collie/Grey x ACD/Grey, Bull /Grey Photos to follow.

My 21 inch ACD/Whippet/grey, started at 10 month, just days time mooching, bushing and ferreting.

I wouldnt worry mate, its not for me , good luck to those who like it but you see the lurchers going mental when they hear or see the lure, what are they like with real game? maybe the lure chasers can explain it better, me i steer clear and am not really interested. A lot of whippet/greyhounds are bred for racing and simulated coursing, very popular down south.

Knuckle (growth plates ) are at the dogs wrists as mentioned, the plate is the last to mature and harden, generally speaking the bigger the knuckle, many believe the bigger the dog will grow but not always the case. These bones need protection from shock or damage, ie; jumping and twisting to early especially on hard ground. Some do not mature until 9-18 months in bigger dogs, so take care and dont over do it.

Was out at 7.30 this morning by the lake, dogs having a splash was still warm, will let them chill then get them back down the beck later tnite when its cooler, all the best. WR

Cleator Moor Sports usual Show in July has moved, the sports will not take place but the Lurcher and Terrier Show has been moved to Sunday June 13th, all usual classes.
