After the original Lowther Show banned Lurchers in the 80's, it took a lot of letter writing, discussions and effort from a certain individual with Lowther owners to reinstate the Lurcher Show, Show entry was expensive but once in show entries were free and good trophies and prizes were available and the Lurcher events were well supported. The decision was made for Lowther to cease but now it has been ressurected by Country Fairs, with the Coursing Crew running the Lurcher events, no one can say it is crap until they have been, then pass a personal opinion, so in an attempt to ensure Cumbr
  5. Took me ages to get it to pose for this.

Go back to basic dummy retrieving on its own, then if retrieving ok, get someone to stand with the terriers behind you, when its retrieving with them there, bring them closer each time, until it becomes used to doing it with other dogs there. Never let the terriers runalong side him or try to fight over it, it can ruin retrieving. Persevere until he retrieves with dogs in close proximity, it may be hes jealous or frightend of the terriers, good luck mate.

Started as an 8 year old with airgun and terriers hunting rats on local council tip, few years out of the game with being in the forces, used to wander anywhere and walk miles with car battery/motorbike battery, headlamps and the usual acid burns, started carrying battery in plastic containers with seat belt straps on back.   9. They would earn more support and money if they included Lurcher and Whippet classes but they have always been biased towards them.

  16. Just to clear up any confusion Flimby Show is still on Sunday May 29th, will be in Countrymans Weekly next week but racing in morning about 11am ish and Show from 1pm ish, not sure of exact start times, usual Flimby classes.
  17. Flimby Show is definitely on Sunday May 29th, spoke to the organisers today and should have been in Countrymans Weekly today, will be in next week and they have been handing flyers out. Not sure on times 100% but racing starts in morning 11ish and showing about 1 to 1.30, all the usual Flimby Classes.

  21. Used to be a good show, but I'm biased ha, gate entry expensive but free to enter once in, always a good turn out and decent lurchers on show, has been taken over by country fair firm so dont know about prices and entries, no reason why it shudnt be as good as it used to be.
