  1. Fair play to you Ian and well done for bringing it up mate .Some would of just let it run on and moaned when their bank was a bit lighter .
  2. Snowed heaps but having rained all day there was never any chance of it settling .
  3. I always thought he moderated fairly and let things evolve before stepping in.Good luck for the future whatever you do chief .
  4. Forgive me if im being a twat but do you lads get that money for dogged rabbits .We struggle down here to get 50p for headshot or ferretted rabbits let alone bruised by a dog .
  5. Many straight border collies were not only bred for the job but relished it .The fox is no match for a determined lurcher once it is caught .Therein lies the bit that seperates a fox dog from a pretender .Ive said it before so ill say it again .A 100% FOX DOG IS A DOG THAT WILL NOT ALLOW A FOX TO ESCAPE ONCE CAUGHT ,NO MATTER WHAT PAIN IS INFLICTED AND WILL TRY ITS VERY BEST TO CATCH ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE.THEY WILL DO THIS WITHOUT BEING CHEERED ON ,OUT OF SIGHT AND IN ANY AMOUNT OF COVER ,SINGLE HANDED ,DAY IN DAY OUT .Then you have yourself a fox dog .Many ,many lurchers will catch a fox,b
  6. Thurso jack-I can sympathise with the video thing mate .I keep trying to video a ratting session and a run on the lamp but the urge to have a peek at the action is too overiding for me and i'm left with the ass end of a dog or tring to find it in the veiw finder .Its getting someone that is interested enough in the fiming thats proving the problem .Good to see you and hound dog have kissed and made up .lol. Ps average vid .lol.
  7. Definately a badger scratch mate .Deer pick on a sapling that they can thrash about .If it dosnt have any 'give'in it then deer wont fray it .The bits on the ground give it away .There will be a badger track nearby between 2 settes .Could tell you more but you will find out by studying the area .
  8. I have no wish to re-create a fish but if i did it would be spot on
  9. ..........................No but we'll get a better class of cocks and wankers .lol.
  10. Where i used to control the foxes ,they told me every hen killed was worth 36 quid in lost eggs.Times that by the average of 20 birds lost a day /night [before the big cull ].......and thats ..........well loads .£720 lost daily before a profit was turned .They did have 9 sheds though ,22,000 in each .200,000 birds earning a minimum of £36 each ,thats £720,000 a year and they still went bankrupt
  11. Kay, on the unit I spoke of everything is auto. At this time of year light comes on auto at 4 am, there is an alarm bell that rings 5mins before the feed belts are operational, this bell conditions the birds to get to the feed troughs when it rings, I believe this is one of the reasons they never stray to far from the shed, hatches open auto at 8. As dusk falls, when the last "dinner" bell goes the hatches will also automatically close after a set time. Lighting will go off slowly by dimmer switch. All the eggs are collected by a conveyor belt, the feeding periods and light are all delivered s
  12. Personally ,i would donate IF it was not advertised under your user name/avatar as this to me causes a divide .Us and them .Why do we all have to know whos donated and who hasnt .I am all for donating but will not as long as this is in place.
  13. Not questioning you mate but is that a guess or fact .?
  14. was going to say it was a homemade fish as it resembles nothing in the real world
  15. Hi Foxdropper....I'm confused...if you simply had the deer added to an existing .22 centrefire you had listed for Fox etc it should have been free anyway. Perhaps it's those Wilts Coppers trying to make a fast buck! I called in to Devises HQ mate as soon as i heard about the law change .The firearms officer said that a variation to my firearms was needed and would cost £23 and the temporary loss of the certificate whilst it was amended. The officer brought my license to my door that same evening comlete with .222 for fox /small deer .I questioned the 'small deer' bit and was then
  16. DO NOT GIVE EITHER DOGS BIG MEALS .They may sick the majority up or in the very least ,cause stomach upset .Something you want to avoid at all costs with a malnutritioned animal .Diahrea[spelling ]will see off the dog through dehydration .Feed quality meals little and often ,not something to be taken lightly if no-ones at home all day .Excercise will depend on how fast the animal recovers and if any damage has been avoided .Sorry to post all negative responses but its the way it is .Good luck .
  17. Little tip mate -Instead of posting flyers through letter boxes, try posting pregnant doe rats and leave your card handy while your there .lol.
  18. The recent post on day olds got me thinking about my days on the game farm in Gloucester .We used to use both gas heaters and electric hens on both pheasants and partridge. If i remember right ,the fors and against were as follows- Gas is cheaper to run,the unit is cheaper than the electric hen , but more labour intensive due to somebody needing to check temperature on the hour or more frequent in hot weather .The distance off the ground of the element is crucial to prevent crowding in the centre or huddling in the corners.Feather pecking is a problem with the gas ,more so than electric as the
  19. In that case ,im owed £23 for the variation .
  20. On the subject of nosey passer byers ,we were ratting around a shed with a smoker and 5 terriers when the law pulls up and askes me to turn the smoker off so he could be heard .He then said that they'd had reports of 'hare coursing' to which we all started laughing .After we explained what we were doing he sees the error of what hes just said and they both stayed a while to watch the sport .If we'd had lurchers out ,i dare say we would have been left trying to defend ourselves . Another time we were ferretting and a wpc comes mincing over to us to ask what we were doing ."Ferretting'"the kee
