    Run a small building firm ,well when i say small ,its just me really and other labour when i need it! .I work to live ,not live to work and get out as often as i can possibly get away .Money means f'all to me but good dogs and a straight shooting rifle are everything .Should never have walked away from the keepers job but thats life and another story

    THe final tally was 331 but should have been double that if 2 sheds were done .Our record of 620 will have to wait !.

    Broke down is just a term for coming into season thank god someone else understands me thought i was speaking foreign My apologies mate.Down with us it means the dog has jacked .Just goes to show that different parts of the country and all that .Apologies again .

    We were asked to make ourselves available for a days ratting on a chicken farm near me .We have done this type of ratting before but never been there when they winch the organic shed onto new ground We turned up at 8 am ,expecting things to go according to plan but some bits were missing from the winching kit so the contactor had to go in search for these Eventually they got going at 1.30 ? Two big sheds were the target but i knew this was now impossible as we would be beaten by the light.The first shed was eventually winched forward and a few rats bolted as it moved .After they had moved it o

    Forgive me if im being a twat but do you lads get that money for dogged rabbits .We struggle down here to get 50p for headshot or ferretted rabbits let alone bruised by a dog .

    Many straight border collies were not only bred for the job but relished it .The fox is no match for a determined lurcher once it is caught .Therein lies the bit that seperates a fox dog from a pretender .Ive said it before so ill say it again .A 100% FOX DOG IS A DOG THAT WILL NOT ALLOW A FOX TO ESCAPE ONCE CAUGHT ,NO MATTER WHAT PAIN IS INFLICTED AND WILL TRY ITS VERY BEST TO CATCH ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE.THEY WILL DO THIS WITHOUT BEING CHEERED ON ,OUT OF SIGHT AND IN ANY AMOUNT OF COVER ,SINGLE HANDED ,DAY IN DAY OUT .Then you have yourself a fox dog .Many ,many lurchers will catch a fox,b

    Thurso jack-I can sympathise with the video thing mate .I keep trying to video a ratting session and a run on the lamp but the urge to have a peek at the action is too overiding for me and i'm left with the ass end of a dog or tring to find it in the veiw finder .Its getting someone that is interested enough in the fiming thats proving the problem .Good to see you and hound dog have kissed and made up .lol.     Definately a badger scratch mate .Deer pick on a sapling that they can thrash about .If it dosnt have any 'give'in it then deer wont fray it .The bits on the ground give it away .There will be a badger track nearby between 2 settes .Could tell you more but you will find out by studying the area .
