  1. Which ever way they throw i have no doubt they will be crackers, I think the pic of the litter will be a bitch thats for sure, just like her mum. The hares better lookout !!!
  2. Awsome dogs mate, Have you ever ran them on pigs?
  3. Wouldnt you agree that it would be harder for the Deerhound to take fox due to its size and lack of speed on the turn than it would be for a smaller dog. I know those smaller dogs Bull/Whip/Stag/Grey where alot quicker on the turn than the Deerhound. If we where out to test the dogs we would of ran them single handed. But we where in it to win it, and also try to bring my pup on. Looks like we may have to get some photo's up of James' Bulldogs to satisfy you Kane, if its meatheads you want to see. We will have to get some pics up of these dogs taking Hares single handed aswell.
  4. Where abouts in Aus mate,im down here aswell. Im just north of Wollongong NSW
  5. I personally think these dogs are Hard as, Its just they have a fecking brain and wont go in passed the point of death!!! Personally this is how you want them. I have talked to mates of mine you have had dogs with there throats ripped out and still lugging and then they drop dead, You cannot hunt with a dead dog can you Kane? Now lets see you Collie crosses catch a boar mate,
  6. My pup, the black one. Is whats known as a Staghound down here in Aus, The breed is one of the first Australian dogs that the settlers used for Kangaroos, Emus, Foxes, Rabbits ect.. .Basically to hunt for the meat. From what i have been told its a Deerx Grey but there have also been bits and peices thrown in along the way. I have been told there is a hint of Wolfhound coming out in that Bitch and if you look carefully it seems there is ,
  7. I have just been through the same thing with my pup mate, I found that she needed to get walked every afternoon. If i was late back from work one afternoon and it was dark she would get destructive. I used to take her on the leash so she couldnt chase anything and if there was an open paddock I knew she couldnt course anything i would let her off leash. While she was off leash i would practice the obedience. Walking to heel, and sit, stay laydown ect... trying to keep her busy and wear her out. So when we got home she would have some dinner and have a sleep. It seems to work well,
  8. They are very small, I setup this longnet for the Daytime with Ferreting so I didnt need a long pole, I have the quickset for the nighttime, but i couldnt be assed lugging the thing around!!!
  9. Ok i think i went alright for my first serious attempt in the dark. The Moon was out which made it harder, and i didnt have enough net for the whole Hedge and i missed one, But the pup went well driving them into the net. It was her first time longnetting aswell but she has the knack for it, Only got 2, better than none!!!
  10. Hey guys, I got onto a good spot for the longnetting so im going to try my luck and see how i go, If all else fails i will have to run the lurcher!!! wish me luck
  11. We have some rough ground down here. Personally I dont really like running my dog on it, she hasnt had a problem with the pads but she has had an accident on a log and hurt the back of her back left leg. So i have been only running her on good ground now, Just hate taking the risks. I also dislike the fences, but when she is coursing something she pulls up most of the time. All the time after she ran into one, its a hard lesson to learn.
  12. Crazey b*****ds, Its times like those you need a descent dog lugging. In the new Bacon Busters there is a pic of a Pig attack and these tusks are 2 Inches long, they have ripped this bloke a good 6inch gash in his leg
  13. Rabbit hunter, I have caught both rabbits and hares in 6 strand brass snares and they have not been broken? Are these 6 strand snares?
  14. Well Done Tomo, cant wait to have a go of that
  15. Hey mate, Good to see your out there doing it, The only thing i would add (I am by far no means an expert) I have caught a few bunnies here and there and hares. But just read through glenns post or Rabbit snaring and learn how to put the tension in you brass wire, Kinking the wire so the eyelet stays open with the noose impedes the running action of the snare. If your learn how to put your tension in and get more wires out you will soon get the hang of things Keep doing it mate its the best advice i can give. Once you have been pushed in the right direction its just a matter o
  16. Its a Victor 1.5 , Im getting there Ditchy, But if you are ever out this way let me know I will take you out and we will put a few sets down. I have been experimenting with guides and they seem to be working
  17. I can readily get my hands on the Lanes Ace rabbit traps if anyone is interested
  18. Had a few sets out yesterday afternoon. Todays result.,
  19. gotta love a women who is not afraid to wear cammo!! Top snaring there good stuff guys!
  20. I have also whitnessed the Cows eat the after birth, almost straight away. I thought this was to eliminate the chance of drawing in Predators. Those foxes are b*****ds, Hairybull I bet those foxes would struggle stealing pups off a Staghound
  21. I would be very interested to see how you go, get us some photos of setting the snares ect.... I snare on similar ground and it can be very hard thats for sure. But the more rabbits there are the more chance you have of catching one, thats what i like to remember. But it is great catching them in the snares, remarkable how well they work for such a simple bit of kit good luck mate
