Seems pretty dangerous. But just see how sturdy it is when ya netting up, then determine whether or not its a good idea. If ya have to dig, it aint gunna be hard Good luck with it let us know how you get on...

Most people I talk to who i buy nets off tell me Winter is the 'Season' for ferreting. Mainly because they sell all there nets before winter as everyone is getting ready. I have not seen rabbit kittens for a while now, so i would say the season for ferreting is probably starting now. Personally i ferret all yr round. Rabbits breed like wild fire so its practically impossible to ruin game for the future, Just my Opinion....

All the way down here in Aussie, about 1hr south of Sydney

Hey peg any chance of some instructions on skinning a fox? you have done a feck load and seem to be the bloke to ask.

I had young bolt today.... which is a pain in the ass, They are all ment to be big as its starting to get into winter. But mate, i have had worse days. Walking in extreme hot weather to catch nothing. Walking like 13 kms... with the kit. Torture

Six bunnies nice one.. Every ferret is going to lay up sooner or later thats the way it is. But a ferret that is quick off the blocks, and is always hot up a bunnies ass when boltin is a good one. I also like one that is clever with nets my hob pushes through the side of a net instead of going through them and his collar doesnt get tangled up. Its hard with the new jills as they go straight through and bugger up my nets they are only new to it. I like using the jills, i have had rabbits bolt with bite marks ect.. that where able to escape my ferret where my hob would of smas

Excellent work, seems to be a rather big fox. I have never in my life realised how effective a well set snare can be. Very well done mate

How do you guys deal with being able to stop ferreting for all that time. Im out every week, and if i miss a week im gutted. But i commend you guys for it, must make you more keen to get out when the season begins again I spose the ferrets having Kits would keep you occupied, Do you save bunnies to feed to the Kits to help them get the idea when its time to work them? And does everyone still keep around on the forums or am i in for some real time by myself whilst the season is over? Cheers people

Good to see some Aussies getting around on here. You will be heavily impressed with the blokes on here Roo they truely are helpfull and know there stuff Where abouts in Aussie ya from mate ?

Ahh cheers woodga, So does this tealer become dislodged when the fox hits it, allowing the snare to enclose?
-
May i ask how you suspend the wire in the air?, Is it just resting on something on the fence?

I usually take a little spade with me, nice and light and i can get on tune with the locator to find the exact spot so i only need to dig a hole big enough to get my arm in and get my rabbit out. But i went to dig last time and a spade would not even get through this soil. It was like rock, so I had to use a crowbar. Lucky it was next to my freinds house, so i could walk over and get one. Do you encounter many Crowbar jobs over there? I would hate to lug one around the hills.

May i ask what that is on the floor Rob? the substrate stuff

My first Hob used to bite the shit out of me. When i would go to pick him up he would bite me. So i got a bar of sunlight soap, some pure natural soap. And when he would try to bite me i would let him bite the soap. He didnt like it and soon got the idea, It didnt happen over night, but he eventually understood if he bites he is going to get a mouth full of soap. He is now my best ferret. And will not even think about biting me,

Thats the stuff scutt, It works out to be rather expensive however Well atleast i think its expensive, $10.90 for 100 meters, and i only made 1 1/2 nets out of 100 mtrs, But its ok atleast its strong Nice idea Rabbit Hunter, sounds good to me... Cheers
-
Cheers Rob, How many do you generally carry? Im thinking around five while im at it...

After seeing a post by woodga, i got the idea to try and make a 5ft net for those extra big holes. I did some searching and found some rings and net needles, and i got some Brickey string from the hardware. This is how it turned out.

In defense of us Aussies, That person deserves a nice decent slap in the face, Obviously they have something wrong with their brain. Rabbits over here are a pain in the ass, re releasing them is definatly an act of pure stupidity. Why in gods name dont they realise that if they manage there ferreting properly and dont over work the land. They will keep rabbit numbers down and always have somewhere to go ferreting. Why net the bloody holes in the first place?, Im sure if the farmer or landowner found out they released them they would be mighty impressed :realmad: Cheers

The rain over here is abit of a change, So i like to get out it saves me getting sunburnt and the ferrets gettin to hot. Last time i went out in the rain i did a dam wall and it was slippery as feck. Slipped on my ass about 5 times, missed 1 bunny :realmad: But what can i say, I wasnt the one who had to wash my clothes Cheers

LMAO, Im with SPUD, if they are his ferrets i think he kinda deserved that lol. Im suprised the little bugger let go, normally they dont when you hang em like that, hahaha Good one mate

Ive just done the same here. Introduced 1 hob to 1 new Jill, however i had the oppisite affect, the hob wouldnt leave my Jill alone. So i got another 2 jills, he did the same but has now settled down. I havent seen him going the Jills for neall 3 weeks. So all is well good luck
