  1. Perfectly well, had a couple of long nights with mine and a Striker, no problems at all, battery lasts with loads to spare. Li Ion technology is very different to the old sealed lead acid type, even with a brand new properly charged 17A battery I was finding it would start to fade after a couple of hours, whereas the Li Ion pack stays as biright as it is when you first put it on, then it will completely die. But I have to say that I haven't run mine down so far, and I am like Jamie and his magic torch, it's on more than it's off when I'm out, I'm shit at getting over fences and ditches so
  2. From the sounds of it and the looks of those tracks it probably was somebody's bull cross that did for that horse
  3. i got a collie whippet grey he 9 months and 20" and has been there for a while now so maybe another inch or two over the next couple of months will do him,the outher dogs have been about the same stopping between 10 and 12 months I have had deerhound/greyhounds that didn't finish growing until they were 2 1/2, but were perfectly capable of light work from 12 months or so.
  4. Is this definitely tomorrow Saturday 27th not Sunday 28th? Cheers
  5. Thanks mate, I will be grateful if you can get a number for him. Cheers. N.
  6. Hi All I'm trying to get in touch with a guy called Michael Johnson from near Saltburn, he's mainly a coursing greyhound man who has also bred some lurchers. I bought a very good bitch pup off him a few years back and want to try and find a dog from the same litter to use on a mate's bitch. The mobile and landline numbers I have for him from several years back no longer work so I don't know if he has moved, died or just changed phone company. I will be grateful if anyone who has a number for him or can otherwise put me in touch with him could contact me via pm. Cheers. LG
  7. Chalky, if you were daft enough to follow the advice that Woz has been giving you, at best you would be be likely to lose your FAC and quite probably by prosecuted by the police and possibly also sued by the dogs owners as well. I would leave the gun well out of it when confronting trespassers because it only takes one accusation of you making threats to kill with a firearm to land you in a world of trouble. Also shooting dogs, for a lot of people would be like having someone shoot a member of their family and I think that you would be very likely to experience savage retaliation against you
  8. I have got a Blitz (240) and a Striker (170) both lamps use the same bulb, there really isn't enough difference between them to justify carrying round the extra bulk of the Blitz. I find the Blitz far too big and clumsy for everyday use walking out with my dogs so it only ever gets used from a vehicle. Save your money and buy a striker, its much handier to use and the Blitz really gives you a very little extra range over the striker.
  9. I have used all sorts of things including tinned sardines and road kill rabbits and pheasants with success.
  10. I would have left him until after the rut and then taken him, but each to their own and unlike me, you know the local situation round your way. That head looks medal class and its always good to give good bucks maximum chance to pass their genes on, even if they are oldish and have been around for a while.
  11. To add my two pennyworth, there's no Mink round my way so I have no experience trapping them. I've never been convinced that the mark IV Fenn is a good killer of squirrels, I have had too many foul catches with Bodygrips and don't like them much but I have found the Kania 2000 to be very good, if too expensive and also fairly shoddily made. I have only had one foul catch in an awful lot of squirrels killed with my Kanias
  12. Without trying to confuse you the simple way to tell them apart is to look at the way the coiled spring fits under the trap. On the Mark I trap it is attached to both jaw ends, and on the Mark 2 trap it is fixed to the base and to one jaw only. Why do you ask?? OTC Just curiosity really, I was given some Imbra's recently and wanted to work out which model they are. I have always used Fenn Rabbit traps and a few old Juby's and have never been that familiar with Imbra's. Thanks for the information though
  13. The question is gentlemen (and ladies) how do I tell a Mark One Imbra from a Mark Two? Cheers.
  14. If the traps are catching they clearly dont need boiling or degreasing, I used to do this but stopped because I have never found that it makes any difference
  15. It spells rapist to me, and I wouldn't want to name a dog after a convicted rapist
  16. I have got both lamps and rarely use the Blitz - it uses the same bulb as the striker and there really isn't much difference in the beam whereas I find it too big and clumsy for walking.
  17. I would echo these comments as well, Santa bought me one for Christmas and it's the best bit of new lamping kit I've seen in years. It weighs 1lb 12oz compared to 7.5lbs for my old 7AH battery. Put it on your belt and you won't know its there.
  18. Totally unsuitable for shooting rabbits, get a cheap .410 instead
  19. To have my pennyworth, you plan to go game shooting which rules out a semi-auto because these just will not be welcome on a lot of game shoots. The vast majority of o/u guns are single trigger whereas most sbs will be double trigger although there are increasing numbers of single trigger and multichoke sbs guns available. I have shot for years with a very unusual o/u - a very light, double trigger, fixed choke o/u but recently bought a single trigger multi-choke o/u. I really hate this new gun and can't get used to the single trigger which is much slower than a double trigger when a fast seco
  20. Grow up Rick and learn to take criticism like a man.
  21. Sounds like the thread hasn't gone the way you hoped it would. Enthusiasm is a great thing but don't let it blind you to the real faults and limitations of the things you are enthusiastic about. Landies are way too expensive, unreliable and lacking in kit compared to the opposition. But hey, every cloud has a silver lining their unreliability gives mechanics a lot of work and their poor spec keeps the aftermarket industry in business.
  22. Landrover - expensive unreliable piece of shit, give me a Landcruiser anyday - I've done thousands of miles across Africa and years of off-roading in Toyota's without missing a beat whereas the Solihul crap breaks down all the time and needs thousand spent on difflocks etc to bring it up to anywhere near even a basic Landcruiser spec
  23. I've got one, and its a superb bit of kit, I run it on 50/50 veg oil & diesel, totally reliable, very good off road and you can lock the rear diff as well as the centre diff and it will tow 3.5 tons.
  24. I have got a Deben Tracer Lithium Ion battery and it's superb it weights 1lb 12 oz as compared to 7.5lbs for my old 7AH gel battery, I put it on my normal belt and hardly know its there. In my opinion this is the best bit of new lamping kit to come out for many years. The one drawback is the price.
