  1. Fourteenacre (excellent service) or Magnum traps.
  2. Don't take it for granted that Rentokil and other big companies are always expensive. Often, they can afford to do work for a loss to help them gain saturation in one particular area. It's all very well getting training and the bits of paper, but you need real-time experience in the pest game. Having a good business head, and the ability to sell is as important as being able to kill stuff these days.
  3. Illegal to use, not sell, sadly. It's worth paying the extra to get good quality british made traps.
  4. The one above and also: @Markymarksurry are the ones who are biting best at the moment Ruby. Give 'em some stick fellas!
  5. This one likes me even less: @T0m_B0mb4d1L He's even threatened to come round with a shotgun! Bring it on..........
  6. Drop 'Nod' on here a pm. I'm pretty sure that he makes some good quality rabbit cages.
  7. I've got an old MAFF one here somewhere, I'll dig it out and get some pictures tommoz if I have time. Various trails have found that you can get much quicker bait take from wooden boxes.

I thought someone would have replied to this thread Is there anyone out there?
  13. After years of being a member of THL, I've just found out how easy it is to ignore members using the 'ignore' function in your profile. Don't like someone on here that annoys you? It's easy, you just select ignore user, and you don't have to read their posts unless you want to (or someone else quotes them). Now how long do you think it will take to select forty thousand odd members
  14. Right you lovely trappers. About a year ago, a chap rang me up out of the blue to tell me that he was making mole traps in his spare time, and to ask if I was interested. He sent me a sample, with a business card. I still have the sample here, but in the chaos of last year, I mislaid his card. From memory, he worked as a shepherd/sheepdog breeder. Does anyone know this chap or have any contact information for him please? I'm guessing that I'm not the only molecatcher he contacted? Any information gladly received, either here, or via PM.
  15. You should be reminding them that all occupiers of land have a legal obligation to control rabbits on their land to prevent them doing damage to neighbouring property. Also note that this is regardless of who owns the sporting rights; every occupier has the legal right to kill rabbits and hares, or to employ a 'servant' or other member of his household to do so. I'm not sure if that would apply to individual allotment holders, but suspect that it might.
  16. Getting the rats dead will help, but you need to solve the issue of why they are there. This is especially important because of where you are. Terriers and a good tidy up is a good way forward, but you should still report this issue to the local authority. They are fighting to get some action on the resistance issue up there at the moment, and need evidence to help the cause. There are products that will sort this issue out, but the officials at the HSE will not allow them to be used. We need evidence to fight this, and this can only happen if people report the impact this is hav
  17. In simple terms; the susceptible rats will die, and the resistant rats will breed more resistant rats. As the percentage of resistant rats rises the problem gets worse and worse. If it's the L120Q strain, which I would expect it to be, my experience would be that at most 60% will be suseptable to Bromadialone, and less than 5% to Difenacoum. Within a year, those figures would be more like 5% and 0%. I've done lots of work (science based work) with resistant populations, and the official advice now is to stop baiting where L120Q is suspected. Don't forget that true resistance (whi
  18. Here ye go: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/49923-chicken-keepers-vs-rats/ Some great advice there from the legend.
  19. BTW, I notice you are in Berkshire, which is a well known Rodenticide Resistance hotspot. Report it to the LA whatever happens, because if you start chucking anything with Difenacoum or Bromadialone around it will make the problem worse not better. The LA can have the rats tested, and it will help them to get some action on the resistance problem in that area.
  20. You're local authority have a statutory obligation to keep their district free of rats. In reality, that means that any complaint needs to be investigated, and should the occupier fail to sort the issue out, they can do it and charge him. (Cue accusations of grass etc from all the usual suspects) In reality, you need to make your property as unattractive to rats as you can. Don't feed the poultry on the floor, take all food and water away at night, and make sure there is no clutter and other potential harbourage nearby. Traps will pick up the odd rat that wanders in, but if
  21. And the working class Labour party will not?
  22. Gordon Brown also sold of loads of stuff, including our gold reserves (at a rock bottom price) in order to con people into thinking that they were doing a good job. When Labour won the election even they admitted that they had inherited the strongest economy in the Western World. Ten years later they'd completely fecked it up and again, admitted it. If you look back in history you can see that every time Labour get power they feck the economy up and then sit back and slag off the Tories when they are forced into making hard decisions to sort the mess out. Thatcher only ruined brit
  23. I'm not going to consider anything else until I get my mitts on one of those red babies. Even if it's no good, at least it'll give me some ideas. Like traps, one day, someone will bring out the ultimate tool for the job until then, us UK trappers will have to continue using second rate kit.
