  1. It's going on the 97 with a flipping set of mounts and risers that don't seem to be readily available I'm gonna have to shave a chunk of my. Thumb to get the pellets in.
  2. But of a drive can't you build one nearer to me.... Typical. Lol
  3. This better be the one. Sick of Hawke loosing zeros. Out of focus, crooked rets. Just had to go for it for FT. All we need now is a comp hahaha ffs
  4. Also 10.5ftlb but with that much movement I don't favour the breach seal either. It's. All gone horribly wrong.
  5. Well thanks for your replies... I went or it with a lightening XL in my fav tiny calibre and there's a massive movement in the barrel. Has to go back ffs.
  6. Yeah very interested in what you've done to the piston. Working on some 97 developments of my own at the mo.
  7. I recently bought the last two guns I want at the mo.. I'd fancied a Cometa Fenix i ended up with the carbine and immediately its a great little gun. I then got a stroke of luck and thought.... Sod it. Get what you want in life. And bought a lightening XL SE. I've got an array of really good scopes and mounts and thought. A really good hunting combo or two.will come of these. Cometa is mint, too light, hold sensitive odd beech finish but an OK trigger good value and an INCREDIBLE lockup. Lightening feels like it's made in Germany in the lighter part of thr fa
  8. I know mate, honest I've tried. HW, BSA not FX or Daystate mind, but it wasn't windy and I was just sat there slotting the bull, and matey says this is great, and I was thinking.... No it isn't.. What can I say I don't like the way they look or shoot. I've tried!... I'm just a springer bloke. Partly also because I like to take them to bits and try and make them better.. My new Cometa shoots one hole groups with a Carbine 400S Star 300 quid ish I think... 289?... Its living on borrowed time, as I can tell the spring needs decoupling from the piston as it recoils up and right.... Brand new and
  9. That's lush.. I have been thinking of getting one. But I'm quite keen on a Lightening XL... Cos I'm "ckin mad haha...
  10. Ahhh Blimey don't the Nickel look good against the wood.. I tried to order one like that, but Hull said they weren't Domino's Pizza and I couldn't make my own. So I was like.. F that.. It'll cost a bit more. But I found a friend to do the combe and Hamster, beech, but I wanted a Sportster, I did consider an LAP and a CS500 that's a 500 inst it on yours?.... Walnut would be nice. But I wanted to mess around with it, for that mega custom standard look. Some dick from the other forum who tunes guns with no understanding as basic physics. Told me the setup wouldn't work... So far he's worse
  11. Eleys for me, wasps I guess, used to get tiny groups out of em at mega range with my Baikal. I'm hoping to somehow get my Baikal and Mercury shipped back from France. My Mum has em... The Baikal is a level lock break barrel mech... And is.. Insanely accurate. I mean Walnuts at 100 yards on summer days in a sheltered garden, but over and over, I love that thing.
  12. Simply experimenting with tuning. I've found a guy that sells Nylon 66 bits that are very good quality. I prefer them to Delrin.. I've got a shortstroke 97, that I've been working on lightening the inerds in a different way from normal. I hope to market that tune at some point. I've got some Chinese guns I practised on.. A Remington Express, I reduced the torque reaction recoil with the Nylon66 parts I've just gotta a brand new Cometa Fenix S Star Carbine. I'll have to tune that to get some lube on it! It's full of crystalline grease but is an amazing gun very light.
  13. I'd love a lightening XL SE. But I'd also quitelike a Supersport as it's reminds me of my Mercury as it'll come hope with me from France when the borders open up Just got an amazing Cometa Karbine 400 Star S delivered But I got a feeling the BSA will be fun.... Flipping might have to fib to missus. But I got room for one more on the cabinet hooks before I just lean them up inside hahaha...
  14. My 97 loves AA 451 and 452, they group different at distance I'm yet. To work out exactly how, as the 97 is majorly in bits for comp fettling.. 451s defo better at 25yards 452 more at 55 Yards, as the tuning is tested and really coming on the groups are getting miniscule which is a happy feeling... Hopefully it doesn't fly apart. Lol..
  15. I think you missed the point dude. I keep shooting cos I've enjoy it, and it's difficult not like shooting a diving bottle with a trigger. Know what I mean
  16. Only seem to do 452s got a thousand to try, my new Cometa arrives any day now woop... Missus is thinking romantic weekend I'm thinking slotting greys after a two and a half hour zeroing session on the permission haha
  17. Yeah I agree! Less weight to differ on. I've shot some fair old groups with them. They are tough for me to buy locally. I'm just gonna order some now I bet I drop the fing parcel
  18. I've gotta say, although you could get really anal about this. I find AA 451s shoot best in all my under lever Rifles and 452s better in my break barrels but when you stretch out the range the difference between 8.21frains and 8.7 drains in a stated 8.4 grain tin has gotta be a group. Ruining event. I weight out some average 8.48 pellets in fact I weighed them all but I got to 50 weighing 8.48 the quickest I then shot those through my 97 over the Chrono and the power deviation pretty much vanished. Should save the strings really. Its fairly obvious that pellet manufactures aren't as good
  19. Nope. I clean my barrels every half tin or so. I've found different barrels favour different pellets for sure, not that the stated weight of any given pellet is completely different from one to the next in each tin.. I don't think there's much to be gained from cleaning between pellets. Or over cleaning. Although by the sounds of it there's plenty of different views on this one.
  20. Wow... A hole tin. I had admire your sheer lunacy haha.... But bloody hell man... H&N that is.... H&N no bloody SMK spit fires. AA 451s pretty much everything lies, I found that a tin of Bisley Supers were OK, but I've got a sneaky feeling that the stuff I order online gets well knocked about. The best shooting pellets I've picked up at the local RFD. You reckon if you drop a tin all on the outside on the dropped side are fliers? Sneaking feeling.... I dropped a few tins. During my off week. Hahaha
  21. Really?... I mean... Really? I want one... I couldn't get on the the TX with the anti bear trap on the other side. It kept breaking my flow. This could be bad news for my bank balance.
  22. Yeah.... I did say, like a loony. The first one I weighed was off so I kept going. And.. Jesus... They are all bloody different.
  23. Thanks mate. I just wanted to get that out the way, I actively campaign for it, and there's no way I'm leaving freedom at the door as I enter a room! Sorry if the long missive puts people off, but I have been around the block and I'm sick of just watching.
  24. Please forgive me for expressing my views on this. I oppoose all additional field sports and shooting sports legislation. In fact I oppose most legislation, as I sincerely beleive we are trapped in a social mess. New rules and laws don't help anyone. The instead create and have created a stunted society in which the basic and original binding factors, family, community, religion and common interest have given way to enforced regulation. And this in turn has gradually increased those who are the victims of social ills rather than being responsible for their actions. We are thus less
  25. I'm now marginally more clued up on gulls protected as migratory they could be reclassified due our glorious exit from the EU. Fingers crossed.
