  4. Got to make the most of my "man of leisure" time B,got a full time job starting in the New Year .Jasper worked hard today but the jill was my main concern, she bottled it the other week & i was happy to see her back to normal graft mode . I would take my mate Rock off you in the blink of a eye but i don't think our cat would last long & he ain't as bad as you make him out
  5. Well after 2 weeks of gales & rain the weather today was glorious.Arrived at the top quarry for 8:30am,sunshine,light frost & breeze. On the way across i bumped into the landowner had a chat, even he was sick of the rain however the land had dried out nicely since last Thursday when i was up with the rimfire . The workers today were Jasper & small jill Ruby who'd had a bit of a kicking the last time she was out so i was eager to see how she would be today . On the approach to the quarry bottom 2 rabbits dropped into 2 sets,a 2 holer & a 15 plus holer .Netted up the 2 holer &
  6. Nice little sesh there Stu need a few frosts to get the ground sorted out,my place is a flooded quagmire hoping to get out Friday . You on Morpeth golf course by any chance?????????????
  7. I give mine pig heart when i have no rabbit to give them & they eat it no problems. They also get fatty off cuts from pork joints when we have it & no problems there either
  8. As stated by the more sensible folk on here give her more time, she's got a lot to take in strange smells, sights & rabbits which will give her a hard time at a young age. I work 3 poley jills,2 in their 3rd season & 1 of them does skulk now & again so it can happen to any ferret at any age. The other week my small jill took a kicking & would'nt go back down to shift a rabbit but the older jill did.But the small jill has shifted plenty in her 2 seasons up to now so it shows yes ferrets are brave but they can be given a hard time from rabbits . As for the save your food &am
  9. I was stopped last Thursday P for the first time EVER on my permission. The helicopter was a mile or so away in the valley so i had a feeling i would have a "visit".Just as i crossed the road(rimfire unloaded, bolt in holster & gun in bag) into the bottom quarry after having a mooch in the top quarry the van pulled up. The officer was spot on,he was a shooter himself we ended up talking for 10 mins over various guns, calibre & ferreting which he also did.All paperwork was checked & i was on my way into the quarry. The one thing i've learnt tho is to phone the police to let them k
  10. Funny as fook that MR TP it ain't at the time tho....but you'll not forget to tell your old fella to put his moby on SILENT next mooch & to get a bag of unwrapped sweets
  11. Old man is not so good mate tbh. JB you need to save a few days hols for late in the year! Bouncer will always make me smile, he always smiles! but i have enough with the dweeb of a russel! Bouncer would'nt make you smile when he's smashing through your longnet at 30mph B
  12. Was up my place on Thursday with the rimmy B.The bottom quarry is like the Atlantic Ocean, the top quarry walls are a mud slick & on Sunday it was wild in the North East so no mooch for me . On a happier note nice to see my mate Rock is still behaving himself, word to command, etc .Good on ya for going out & doing a bit
  13. Tidy bag there lads got to get out when you can...this weathers bollox at the moment .
  14. Good shooting lads had a couple of sesh's out with the rimmy but it's uncomfortable shooting at my place this time of year (no comfy, warm landy's to sit in) Any joy with the FAC yet Davy ??

  20. Keep at 'em lads nice pic of the pup
  21. Nice one B hoping to get out mesell next week bloody rain
  22. We s410 owners "aim" to please S1
  23. Don't chuck it Rob,it's handy just to have as a back up or treat. At the end of the day it's each to their own some keeper's will swear by feeding dry 24/7,other's like mesell will use it but sparingly normally in the warmer months & some don't use it full stop.
  24. ah right, I didn't realise dried food makes them fat...i'll have to stock up on the rabbits to feed em! It's down to the induvidual animals metabolism Rob much like us.I could feed 1 of my jills on dry 24/7 & she would'nt put much on,the other 2 would end up like barrels .The larger of my hobs would be like Mr Creosote "it's just a wafer thin mint!!" if i kept him on dry 24/7
