  5. I can remember reading in one of my old falconry books that falconers used to put a ferret in an upside down fish tank in an aviary with the bird loose. The bird couldn't connect to the ferret becaus eof the glass, and after a few tries would give up! I've no idea whether this would work or not, but may be worth a try! I used to make sure that my birds could see my ferrets all the time and therefore become almost de-sensitised to them. Are you using albino's, as these really stand out in a birds eye in the heat of the moment, whereas a poley may look rabbit coloured in a flash. Fer
  6. A piccy would be useful. It's not ringworm is it? Ferret

Tom tom one - Bostin bit of kit, you can use it while driving or on foot. Simple to use and cheep too. Mine cost me £170 from Halfrauds about a year ago. Ferret
  8. With that money, you'd get a decent Toyota Surf. Built to last, excellent offroad, comfortable, practical, hardly rust at all and indestructable. Ferret
  9. I saw my first honey bee of the year today. I thought Jesus, it's January!! Ferret
  10. Cracking motors, I've got one myself, indestructable and will bring a smile to your face everytime you get into it!! Ferret
  11. I must admit, I find plucking a very boring affair. I skin mine, so that all the feathers come off with the skin. If roasting, I'll slap on some goose fat and layer with bacon. Never noticed any difference in taste by not cooking with the skin on. Ferret
  12. My little albino is, she's having a bit of a time with her sister dragging her about, but she soon sorts her out!! Bloody early isn't it! Ferret
  13. How bout using a stuffed rabbit skin on a short line as a lure to get his attention. When he/she comes back, let it have a play/chase with the skin. If the dog can learn that it has fun when it comes back to you, that's half the problem sorted. Ferret
  14. Fair play mate, Rest in peace Uncle Fred. Ferret
  15. God, I'm so sorry, I thought this was ...............'s land!! Ferret

Completely agree. If you aint got homes in the first place, don't breed the things. Don't care what it is you're breeding, dogs, ferrets etc. Have some respect before you begin. Ferret

  18. Beautiful animals, cracking vid. Cheers mate Ferret
  19. Thanks ferret, but i thought if i used one of those it might ruin her sounding when she goes to ground? [ They soon learn that it's the collar that produces the unpleasantness. If she's not wearing it, she barks. As soon as she's got it on, she doesn't. This then generalises to the point where she rarely barks in the garden, as this is where she used to wear the collar. This doesn't stop her barking elsewhere though. I'm sure that with the excitement of the hunt and dig, yours will be baying when you need it. I would certainly recommend one as it worked for me. 20. I've got a heat lamp in the shepards kennel for the freezing nights and a plug in oil filled radiator from homebase in the Spaniel/whippet kennel, just to keep the frost out. Ferret
  21. I use my Brittany for ferreting, now that I've given up the Falconry thing, she loves it! She doesn't catch many but she tries her hardest. She'll sit and stare at a warren when the ferrets are down, though sometimes, once the whippet has launced himself at a bunny, she'll stand and watch as if to say "f**k it, he'll get it, I'll wait for the next one"! Give it a go, don't expect loads of bunnies, but if the dogs enjoy it, then it's worth it. Ferret
  22. My Brittany used to be a bitch for that, the lightest noise would get her yapping. I used an anti-bark spray collar. Got one off fleabay, worked a treat. Ferret
  23. I'd do what Jacob recommends. It sounds like the lead means "end of the fun" to her. Call her back and pop he on it a good few times on each walk, then let her off to play again. She'll soon cotton on that the lead means she can go play again soon. Ferret
  24. Just a thought. Would it make any difference if you were to re-introduce them in order to "actively farm" them for meat?? Ferret
