  3. The only way to buy a dog ever is if you are buying from a guy that you absolutely know is a no bullshit kinda man. Dont ever buy one from any other type of person. Ive bought a few dogs over the years and in all that time I only bought 3 that were worth a damn and they all 3 came from the same guy. 2 the first go around and 1 the second go around. Every single other dog I have ever paid for I got hosed big time. HAHA! Edit to say thats techinically not true. I paid about $1100 dollars one time for the best dog I ever owned plus got a bitch and 2 pups out of him. I never really cons
  4. Ya it could throw a bitch off in all sorts of ways. None of mine will ever come in heat when we are running them hard until maybe about their third heat then its just a matter of timing usually and then they keep coming in every 8-14 months. My Flirt gyp just turned 3 last month and that was her very first heat. Its very normal for these kinda dogs to be that way.

  7. Every bitch is different no matter the breed. I had a bitch once that wouldnt stand til bout the 18th day and would stand for bout 3 or 4 days and then she was an alligator again but she would take.

  9. £2 .59 a gallon Takes the piss don't it,,, how the feck you can complain at that dan,, feck knows,,, I bet it's 20 years since it was that price here Its $4 a gallon which I know is cheaper than yalls but its not 2.59 a gallon.
  10. I mostly try to road mine along side my truck every day or night that I can. I let them run down along the creeks, rivers, and through the timbers too. If they chase something so be it. I like watching them hunt and jack around and I bet we killed a dozen coyotes or better this year just doing this. If I'm just roading them though I will jog them a lil ways to let them empty out and then I will sprint them for a mile, then jog them for bout a mile, spring them for a mile and kinda jog them for another mile or so and then jump em up in the truck and head home. I don't spend a lot of time r
  11. Great post and aint that the truth bout a bulldog or a cross. Them dogs wont be in real good shape until they look damn near skinny. If more folks knew that right there they wouldn't be talkin bout how bulldogs don't have any stamina cuz in fact they got loads if they are in shape.

  13. So you feed them mostly on some form of complete kibble type diet ? in a feeder or not. Yes sir in a self feeder and then we toss meat to em or scraps or whatever when we think bout it but like I said not all dogs can be kept that way cuz they gluttons. I keep my ferrets the same way...lol. If I did the same with my dogs they would be like bull mastivs in a week and unable to move...lol. (greedy bastardos) Oh ya partner I get ya. I got a male dog here that there is no way I can feed like that. Our line of hounds though that we keep is awesome for feeding this way
  14. I hear ya and actually no salmon was never "bad" for you but I agree 100% and know exactly what you are talkin about. There are just certain amounts of "toxins" in all food and if foolishly over consumed can over time cause issues in certain people. The media and our ignorant ass governments and all the bullchit scare tactis is why so many people think this is good for you but that is bad but next week its the exact opposite.

  16. Oh and obviously none of them can be kept on a self feeder in the summer months. They will get fat on you for sure then but in the winter when they are sore and tired 7 days a week most of them cant hardly eat enough to stay kept up. Its a very fine line with dogs that are good enough to be on a self feeder and those that literally just wont eat enough to stay up the whole winter. Some are just too picky to make it.
  17. I am well aware that dogs use fat better than humans but in your second sentence you pretty much nailed it. When you were in the "pet food trade". Dan: I've tried to take your comments in good humour, but you still have to keep bitching away at me spitefully. Why? The fact that I worked in the pet food trade doesn't actually mean that I don't work my dogs, have studied the best ways to keep them fit and running for nearly 30 years. I never stop trying to learn more about how to feed them, so instead of sniping away at me, why don't you explain how your feed your dogs, the reasons for doi

  20. Way slower and really cant be released hardly at all once heart rate is increased to a certain point. Its a resting energy release for the most part. i think thats in humans rather than in dogs(i.e dogs are much more efficient at burning fat)-as far as i know excercise physiologists did experiments in which they starved dogs and ran them on treadmills-no effect on performance-Though id say they were running them at way below sighthound type speeds.. There are loads of studies done and I am well aware of most of them. And their idea of starving and ours is way different. And yes
  21. Way slower and really cant be released hardly at all once heart rate is increased to a certain point. Its a resting energy release for the most part. In the human body fat is only used as a source of energy when carb sources are depleted. That's why long slow running over 30 minute is recommended in humans for losing weight. In dogs IMO the days leading to a hunt should be carb based so that the dog can store energy sources then when finished the hunt a high protein feed for recovery. But at end of day no diet be any good without fitness short sprints over a duration of 20mins (interva

  23. I cant decide if Im more shocked that you actually wrote this or that there are people on here dense enough that said they liked it. I think you might wanna go back and take nutrition 101 all over again doll. Or.... do like I tell all the ladies and get back in the kitchen and fetch us up some biscuits. HAHA! Edit to say that the difference in speed/endurance in a coursing dog versus a lamping dog aint enough to even talk about the difference in diets. They are both sprinters for arguements sake. Facts are any dog that is ran on game needs quite a bit of carbs in them or else they are
