  1. What's the info on that bitch mate, did she produce much?
  2. I'll just continue giggling to myself at the thought of you lamping next to the bonfire and fireworks display and scratching your head wondering why nothing was about instead. Again, have a good day fella. ?
  3. Don't you worry about me and what I've owned fella, worry about what made you question why you didn't see anything on Bonfire Night. Have a good day sir.
  4. I've seen Desertbred is still on here, not sure of his knowledge on saluki types but he's more than welcome to contribute.
  5. You got any pics of your old man's early pures and crosses?
  6. You travelled 100 mile to go lamping on Bonfire Night, no wonder your dog jacked it in. ?
  7. I'm going to try the real deal mate. He never jacked on any runs, he did have his faults though. Occasionally he would yap when he knew the hare was getting near cover. Obviously he would never compete with a saluki cross on a proper taxing run but it would take a good dog to out run him for one course with a short to mid slip. Now I'm not going to kid myself and say I travelled the country looking for the best hares but he was very decent out on a mooch. He did catch 3/3 one day, admittedly they weren't all gruelling runs and I doubt they were in January from wha
  8. Ideally I will be looking for one next year after I remortgage the house but I'll see. Just got to box cleverly with my house and job and then I'll be good to go. I've already planted the seed with our lass and she's not put her feet down. ? If anything pops up in the meantime I'm going cards in. ? Regarding pures, just interesting to read the history, even dogs hundreds or maybe thousands of years old can be improved by us Brits. Praise to all those breeding such animals. ?
  9. Not really a pure mate but will be seeing what these coursing bred dogs are about if any decent litters pop up. Only been in to the bull crosses for teeth and bigger gear when I used to go out lamping and then ended up getting a 3/4 collie cross that was a decent hare killer. It was impressive tbh seeing how much more capable he was on hares than dogs my mates had. The more I went out with him the more I preferred running hares than teeth, at the end of the day those big rabbits are running machines and it takes a decent dog to catch them regularly.
  10. Why did he prefer the pures, out of loyalty or did he think they were better animals? Stuff that, give me the best possible.
  11. Has any pures won any competitions then that have included coursing dogs? I bet many pure aficionados had to admit through gritted teeth that the coursing bred dogs were superior to pures on the UK hare. Does it really matter though as long as they are having fun.
  12. I've often wondered why he doesn't come on here, especially since the site is very welcoming to all creeds & colours.
  13. Did he ever turn to the coursing bred dogs in the end?
  14. So your old man got given one off a farmer and that dog was put in to a lot of lurcher crosses? I'd had guessed that it was the lads who were in to the coursing clubs and all that who would have started importing them. I very much doubt the small time moocher would have bothered until they became more popular. I imagine importing them was a dear do back in the day.
  15. Are you correcting yourself there fella? ?
  16. And it was these mens dogs that were the base for the coursing bred dogs of today in the UK? So it was not the working class hunters who imported most of the saluki's? I always had the idea that the foundation for our coursing dogs were imported in the 70's for some reason.
  17. Didn't know there was such thing, do you mean what the Palestinian people own?
  18. But there's better types out there than the imports we brought over? Is it difficult to access those over strains or do they peddle them all the same.
  19. Are these where the best dogs are then? Where did most of the imports come from that were the base for the top coursing dogs of today?
  20. Really? So which regions hold the best dogs that see the most work, is there better types out there than the imports that were brought over here?
  21. Never really read that deep in to them, which regions do the better strains of saluki come from? Do all the rich Arabs own the best types?
  22. That's a poor offer tbh mate, at least up it to a quid.
  23. @kingmight be interested as the cage he keeps the family in is now a little worse for wear. Good luck with the sale pal.
  24. Especially if you suffer from tourette's.
