One of my best successes this year yellow satenette from pied breeding

All my birds are done now most in flights together. I've over 30 goldfiches plus over 50 timbrados. Not done too bad was slow at first. Mornings hours are changing back now. Half hours already been knocked off the clock. Few weeks ago was morning light was coming through at 4 now it's around about 4.30. So soon as that showed a split the birds up. Get them through the moult now settle them down for winter. Looks like I've some nice goldfinches

Yeah classic yellow cock to a white mosaic. I've two mules that one and a yellow one that's got a few markings nice looking birds. Only reason a did this breeding this year was for a couple to keep back to use as fosters nexr season if need be. That's if they turned out hens

One thing I've never been into muling but thought I'd give it ago. I'm happy with this little fella.

A know it's an old topic this but it's true what Morton says you'll never get captive bred birds to look like the wild british native birds. We had a pair of bully's in the back garden yesterday mooching through the conifers. Picking away at the bugs on the conifers. Something I've never seen before the bullfinches hovering like a hummingbird nipping away at the bugs. Back to the colour the hen bullfinch was something else. When she'd rest up for a second on one of the conifer branches her chest was like a bronze colour in the sunlight stunning and the chest on the cock bird was even more stun

Well I'm pleased with what's turned out a good season for the first round of canaries the Timbrado's. I always let the young pairs have the first round that I'm using as feeders. Just to makesure the birds are going to be good feeders , not just come off the eggs half way through sitting or maybe end up not feeding the young. You just never know with young birds from the year before. A wouldn't like to put some pied eggs under a young hen without knowing if she's going to be a decent parent. Here's some images of some of the young taken yesterday..

Brilliant to see the wild bully cock on top of the flight. Last week I had a chaffy cock on top of the concrete post in the garden looking down at one of my young goldy cocks singing. Was four feet away from him. The goldy cock was on top of the garden wheelie bin in a training cage lol. Funny to see him appear with his bonnet up ie feathers on his head puffed up. Little bit of competition in the area he must of thought. ? ?.

Couple of pics of some young I've bred this yellow an brown bird looks a nice one fingers Crossed it's a pied. Other four birds are still cracking birds from the first round. Then I ended up with two young from second round. For some reason she only laid 3 eggs one was blank..The young from the second round are the birds in hand.

He's got alot of knowledge this young lad but way too many birds. He's like a crack head just wants more ? ?. No on a serious note he's a good lad. Call him Oliver Townsend from notts

Just feeding an watering this morning early doors at around 5 am.. Had a look at this round from pied pairing. And have to say there's a nice mix.. Loving the yellow browm , an the satenette

They'll kill each other any time of the year they bunch up but soon as the season starts they become territorial not like goldfinches in the wild they'll nest near one another. My conifers and most my neighbours at the back have goldfinches all the way up. The pair near me have started on the second brood already. Started mid march and done well in these conifers.. A was scared for the first young due to neighbour pit bull that's always in garden an it knows there's something there in the conifers sits watching the b*****d.

Morning guys haven't been on for awhile due to been too busy at work and evening garden work and birds then some snap and bed. Well finally the goldfinches are showing signs 6 pairs. One pair have had 5 eggs first time parents. With first time parenting I've always taken the first round off the young hens and put them under a feeding pair. She's back building again now so the next round what al do is take the eggs swap them over with canary eggs. When a see her rearing the canary chicks up fine for the first few days , then a will swap the young over to her own young. But in the pa

Beautiful set up there mate credit to him and nothing wrong with keeping your bird room looking fine. I've just mentioned hygiene in one of my posts that that is one of the main thing to keep up on. Birds can soon go down with alot of illnesses if not. Alot of bird keepers I know keep the Agate's same as timbrados great feeders and foster parents too. But that's what you call a lovely set up. Easy to clean pvc a will never go back to wood cages or flights.
