Its was a requirement to attend church Tomo, most dont but this one did, i guess they wanted to test our "faith" before we were allowed to christnen our daughter, i guess many folk get there kids christended nowdays without any real thought to the act it whats behind it, more a fashion thing.... yes i can understand the vicar wanting you to attend church, i think my point is why werent you already if you thought christning was important, but you wernt already going to church. our old vicar in our village wouldn't marry people who wernt already attending , and to be honest i admired

Spot Tony, i know nothing about bird temperaments but as you say, its about altering the methods to the individual animal..............

Im good thanks mate..........

No offence mate, but gronendahls are shite, the Gronendahl/Terveren/Laekenoisare the other breeds that come under the mantel Belgian shepherd dogs, and none of them are used with any regularity as manwork dogs, and there is a good reason for this. Two fellas i know bred them and tried them in working trials and schutzhund, they are weak nerved, snappy and hyoer sensative........There is a reason only the malinois has been imported and popular, they aren't useless

Crikey, this is deep Do any animals love? Or is it instinct or pack structure or something else? Personally as a child i went to sunday school, although my parents didn't attend church I attended church for a year so i could get my daughter christnened as that was important to me, some services were well delivered and common sense, some weren't, but what i found ironic was the "christian values" some folk displayed, some were welcoming and friendly and really nice people, others were miserable cnuts who moaned like f**k if you sat in their "usual seat"......For me christian values are j

i dont know what happens to those that dont work out Raiye, as i said the working lines are a total distinct thing, no work is needed, just same with any other breed, use the best stock, ensure they are free and tested for heridatary defects and entered correctly, so the breed as a whole is f****d, just keep the working stuff just that....working.........And i know a few folk in schutzhund and the successfull dogs in the UK scene are and have been predominantly shepherds.......Trained all the above breeds, we trained a couple of staffies to run up the leg to get the sleeve A good rottie is ra

Yep, sometimes to much drive, results in tunnel vision and a dog biting its own handler even in a high excitement situation is really bad, they are used in high excitement roles....Thats why i have always said they are for very experienced handlers only, worked very high drive shepherds numerous times with no problems, BUT i have seen a few malis display this behaviour, unacceptable imo................
-
Not the working lines Raiye, may aswell be a seperate breed to the show/pet rubbish........ I haven't seen any police dogs looking much better. A lot of forces until fairly recently still used to go down the free ads route, many are now importing good dogs and thinking about there breeding program, West Midlands and the Met are two at the moment, forces like Notts and several others are following suit............The majority of these good dogs can be found in private hands with folk competing in schutzhund/working trials etc, one of mine sired a litter and two went to west mi

Foxes - Single handed and pairs (Pre Ban)
Simoman replied to Macky's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
No need to argue fellas, we can see what your both saying As i said, when it was legal we would double ours up as we may only run a couple a night on some areas and we wanted a run....As i said ALL mine were required to be able to work single handed and prove themselves but many times i would double up. I think the main problem is that many folk used to take perhaps a dozen a season and say they had a proven fox dog, not in my eyes, many would take the occasional fox but aren't so keen when charlie was on the menu every night they went out, only single handed fox dogs should of been bred -
 Many of the dogs i trained and sorted out would of loved her methods, one blow down the nose and she would of lost her face

Where's the question Simo? lol. Im tired I guess as was trying to point out, one dog growled, one mouthed me, the growl may be less harsh than the mouthing BUT the growler was given a physical correction and the mouther nothing physical, as a blanket appraoch would of been wrong, diiferent methods for different temperaments
-
Find something that mentally and physically stimulates the dog, find a local schutzhund club, or a better trainer...........

Put the best to the best and hope for the best

Really? Im not so sure, looks like man has dominated, domesticated and adapted animals for his own purpose since we dropped from the trees and started to wipe our arse I have trained numerous dogs with titbits, toys and games. As a little question, i had a very well bred imported shepherd many years ago, the dog had the highest drive and one of the strongest temperaments of ANY dog i have owned, trained or seen. When this dog was 4 months he was in the kitchen on the floor eating a bone and as i went to pick it up he bared his teeth and growled, i grabbed the dog, gave him a shake and

I had a few days last week mate where each page was takling a couple of minutes to load, drove me nuts.........
-
And on the subject of biting ears, i knew a lurcherman, and his father in law, a very inteligent man, who both swore the best way of correcting a dog was to get on all fours and bite their ear, when i said what a load of bollocks they said "thats what the dam does".........what a crock of shit................
-
Different techniques for different dogs, many dogs will respond positivley to food reward based training or play reward and others have a very different attitude and need a firm hand and sometimes a correction, and correction and firm hand is NOT a euphamism for beat the shit out of it.......... I was paid to deal with problem dogs on the side aswell as doing my obedience/tracking and manwork.....All these areas required different techniques, as wilf said when training manwork dogs getting physical is totally the wrong idea, the dog is often in a hightened sense of excitement and physical

If you defined the term messer your photo would be under it, buying in, selling up, buying in again, and only the only day you started a thread in the falconry section as you wanted a bird. You should not be allowed livestock, i geniunely feel sorry for that dog and any other that passes through your hands. Do the game a favour and find GOOD homes for your animals and buy an x box..................
