  1. I love Chub fishing. Only ever been a handful of times and probably only caught half a dozen but I'd love to do more. Never caught a Barbel before but there are some stunning fish on this thread. Well done everyone, good fishing. It sounds like you have put a lot of effort in, did you mention pre baiting out of season? is that to keep them in an area or get them used to a hookbait you are going to use in season? how long are you prebaiting for before fishing?
  2. also pretty hard on drones. skip to 1:17 for the best footage.
  3. That's great to get a perspective from an agricultural country that has large birds and overall they are seen as positive.
  4. That is pretty awesome. Is the fact that they are a big, awesome bird that would be cool to see worth the potential negatives of their release though, things like taking livestock. Maybe if they have an impact on the fox population that could be positive for smaller mammals?
  5. I moved to the countryside from the town years ago because I wanted to get away from the shite I had to put up with on a daily basis. Tractors at 10PM? that's a walk in the park. I love it here and wouldn't dream of trying to change it or telling the people that make their living here and were here before me how or when to do their jobs. Townies like that give townies like me a bad name!
  6. I don't really have an opinion on the IOW release other that I find it interesting, it would be good to see them, they are magnificent birds. I'd be interested to know what their impact will be, I have heard that they might take lambs. If they need prey that large then what else is there for them on the IOW? I heard there isn't any deer there. Rabbits or Hares?
  7. They want to release white tailed eagles in the Isle of Wight.
  8. I love eel fishing, used to do quite a lot in my teens. You'll catch them on most things often by mistake but I always found garden worms caught the most. Ideally the really big fat ones. you can rig two hooks in line like in sea fishing to present the worm a bit better, I found you got better hook holds like that for some reason. Fish evenings in really muggy thundery weather if you can they seem to be more active then. Good luck.
  9. Hi all. Coming back to the forum after being absent for a few years. Couldn't remember my log in or my password so I created a new account. Anyway I am Jamie, I live in Northumberland but am originally from Kent. I think you would define me as a townie but I moved out of the city into the countryside several years ago with my partner and am interested in learning more about country sports/lifestyle, whatever you want to call it. I have done quite a bit of coarse fishing from a young age but didn't have the opportunity to shoot or anything other than messing about with air rif
