  1. Wether you think your dog's don't need improving doesn't change anything...if you inbred heavily they will decrease in quality, that's just how breeding works, it's not my opinion, it's just what happens. For folk to think that you can continually breed from the same small gene pool of dogs and get the same results time and time again is really just ignorance. A pint of milk?
  2. Doesn't matter if its Google if it's actually true, which it is? Of course inbreeding is a must when establishing a breed in the the first place. But if your trying to improve your line for functional hunting dogs, you would want to improve on their physical traits, improve on their brain for running, improve recovery, improve immunity etc... heavily inbred isn't going to improve things or make them stronger....especially very closely bred because your not adding anything different or new in order to improve on it.
  3. Is tick tock actually Greb incarnate? Maybe I'm just catching up here, but bloody hell, Greb was seriously annoying.
  4. The improvement being 'locking in' certain traits that you decided were desirable, ie physical characteristics etc. I can understand and appreciate that when starting off a line and you have excellent stock, father daughter, mother son will be implemented at some point to keep certain characteristics strong for future generations...but full brother sister imo wouldn't make sense, they would never be as good genetically as either of the parents. I've only bred cockers in the past, not related but have mates that have bred a few litters of runners. Have worked plenty lurchers some closer
  5. Breeding from a small gene pool of dogs will give you a smaller gene pool over time which is what you wouldn't want as physical and mental quality will be reduced over time. That's just how breeding works, similar in people.
  6. Bonny looking dog. Genuinely out of interest, why would you breed pups from the same litter? You must have a reason or was that all that you had to breed from? Not having a dig, just interested to know, as inbreeding is still inbreeding and won't add anything if done continually.
  7. Agreed mate ? for the coursing you'd need to bring in saluki blood. Was just using both breeds as the example.
  8. I would say for this reason. Both breeds, the greyhound and saluki are breeds unto themselves and have thousands of years of if you like, of foundation in them or gene expression. The Saluki/greyhound cross is a relatively new hybrid in relation to each of the breeds on their own. Although the cross has great results with its initial hybrid vigour, it will lose relatively quickly it's initial strengths over a period of time and will need a re-injection of the blood from either breeds (pure saluki or pure greyhound) in order to keep 'a line' in the position to produce animals of a similar
  9. You'll get a punch of hybrid vigour that will perk up the coursing bred line which would make sense to me. Then put that progeny back into the line of the existing stuff and you would expect to see a better dog imo.
  10. You'll get more hybrid vigour and new positive or negative traits with outcrossing and unrelated stuff, but will you get consistency, physically and mentally??
  11. Not that I know much about horses, but wouldn't you expect that to be the case? Like saying that the 6.8billion people on the planet have the same genes as the first 2 humans that walked the earth. It's going to be the case. Just a side note ?
  12. As you say either way it's likely due to heavy inbreeding. Alot of it imo comes down to laziness and general ignorance. What could be easier than raising a litter and breeding them together later in life, justifying it in that their game and doing the job or doing whatever you are looking for in your dog's. The problem isn't breeding in the physical characteristics your looking for which are clearly visible or not in the next generation. The problem is the invisible weakness that can and will eventually arise later in some form, eg, issues, fits, seizures, mentally unbalanced animal etc.
  13. Tick tock??? Tell me more about Blind Billy, was he born blind then or was his eyesight lost later in life?
  14. Of all the things to celebrate in the year 2022, can't believe some folk still actually get behind such theatre after all we know about how the world works now. You wouldn't believe it was 2022!lol
  15. Getting that serious look about them now as their getting older. Look in good condition mate?
  16. Interesting angle and true to an extent. Better security for schools in general seems common sense, so what's the hold up in providing better safety at schools?!
  17. Uvalde mom was handcuffed after urging cops to storm school, then she rescued her kids herself | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK Angeli Rose Gomez, who rushed to the school where her second and third grade children are enrolled, said she... You want something done, do it yourself. Well done her! She just walked in and took her kids out!?
  18. If you state that it's not so simple, then share some details why you think so? Do I know all the details? No But I know as much as is being reported, that police stood down for 30-60mins before entering a school with a shooter inside killing kids. What held them up?
  19. Not so simple? What are you exactly waiting for in relation to 'understanding' the situation? 30mins, an hour whilst gun fire is heard?? It can be explained away for some, but the old "it's a bit more complicated than we think" angle isn't going to wash!?
  20. Sad fact of the police these days, is that their turning into a political tool to be used to further political agendas. Police standing back and pinning parents to the ground as a mentally ill person guns down children?? No wonder theories circulate at times such as these....seize the opportunity ?
  21. A bit emotionally driven with a sprinkling of ignorance. So how can criminals and mentally ill people be discouraged from owning weapons without infringing on the right to bear arms for law abiding citizens? You'll always have criminals and mentally ill people....it would then make sense to address the issue of the type of person that commits these acts of violence instead of jumping on the bandwagon as the usual Media circus does crying for the blood of the second amendment! All been down before.
  22. It's too predictable the line that is taken after such incidents. What have criminals and mentally unstable peoples actions got to do with the majority of law abiding gun owners? Nothing. But they are intent on making more out of such incidents than is there. Who was the guy? Did he have a gun license? If basic questions can't be answered then it's obvious what the main agenda is....too predictable.
  23. Just sit on it till the next plandemic....then possibly sell it to the Government for a mass grave site...
  24. I'm not disputing that mate. There are real people involved and real soldiers on the ground but imo the motivation for this Ukraine/Russia situation is a 'money making sanction threatening' operation. Why should anyone else be involved other than the Ukrainians and Russians? The only logical reason is to complicate matters and give each side the motivation to continue its course. Without Western involvement this would of been all over in a week, but no, we had to all get involved.
