  1. You can stop it quite easily. You must stop (in her eyes) robbing her trophy. Go back to basic training and throw out a dummy about 10ft .. recall her back but totally ignore the retrieve part of it. Treat it only as a recall. If she leaves it where it landed fine, ignore it and insist she comes back to you then go and get it yourself. If however she returns to you or even partway still ignore the article and just insist she comes in close to you, fuss her body but not around her head, dont let her think its the bit where you rob her again. The idea is that you show her that its her returning

Theres a post on IFF with a juvenile thats flying for sale up north somewhere. The post went on this evening
  3. Try and keep everything fun and playful. Just because hes shown an advance in his behaviour and is now slipping back doesn't mean hes getting worse its just what pups do. Keep calm and quiet with him and go back to training him as well as you've obviously done already, it will all come together in time. Some pups seem more devilish than others and will try your patience more than others but bear in mind they speak canine not human and thats how they think... I dont believe they have an agenda for 'lets really nark dad today', its all down to the pups youth and confusion.. slowly slowly catchy
  4. Lol I am 'Oop North' but then a bit of correction never did a girl any harm.. so they say Im not a Northern Lass though
  5. Well ive seen both parents and the sire is most def an irish bred whippet and the dam is a blue merle collie. Foo has had 1 litter herself to another full whippet and they all have a striking resemblence to Foo's sire (the irish whippet) but all have the wall eyes like Foo's. I too would have suspected a diluted breeding structure had I not seen the parents and know the people shes from. What would you suggest her parentage might have been and why?
  6. witton's right, you may have to restrain him while the ferret's are doing their job,no big deal and it may help if you let him chase the bolters and get a catch, that way he is being taught his job,so he can tell you where the rabbits are, then you tie him up and put the ferrets in,then untie him and let him catch the runners when the ferrets bolt them,Chalkwarren thought you'd help a lady out in distress not invite her darn sarf, what's wrong wi' a bit o' advice? Right, I get the picture now..thanks for all the replies. My next mission is to take her out with the ferret. She has very go

  9. Thanks Johnny.. 40 views & 1 reply lol i'll go with your advise! I know the previous owner has several ferrets so its very likely thats correct.. am I right to allow it then? and will it have any adverse effect when I take her out at night?
  10. Hi, as I said ive a whippet X collie, 3yr old bitch. Last week she did something that ive not experienced before and I need to know whether its to be allowed and if its normal etc... She was hurtling across a stretch of moor and stopped on a sixpence and shoved her head down a rabbit hole She then started digging
