Make sure the bunny hugging anti loving Labour Party don't get a sniff at the next election, Andrea leadsom the defra secretary is committed to overturning the ridiculous hunting act. Oh and don't buy daily mirror they donate to lacs.

Must be really short of food to take all those rabbits, unless there is still hundreds of rabbits still about. Not my cup of tea, but maybe I'm wrong.

The only people who crab collie/greyhounds are those who can't train them and who have no patience, we had them when I was growing up, my dad still has one from his original strain he started forty years ago and she catches al quarry day and night. You can't shout at these dogs, if your one of those morons who hit there dogs or scream at them then these aren't for you.

I've just looked at an old book of my dads by colonel David Hancock called old working dogs and in it there is a picture from the 1800s of a drover and his dog and what I found interesting is that the dog is marked in the black and white pattern of today's border collies.

It all depends the bloodline you are getting, £400-£500 for a line bred dog that's been bred from the best of lines for generations is cheap, but to me the person selling them is just as important, one of the best dogs I ever had cost peanuts compared to her bloodline, but she came from a friend of a friend. The best ones are usually hard to come bye as most will be sold before being born.

Hi Phil that looks like a proper lurcher, my dad bred his own line of lurchers they were deerhound greyhound collie greyhound but line bred, they looked like typical Norfolk types. I don't know if you remember but there were two rough coated lurchers one fawn and one blue on the cover of the shooting times about 1979 or , I've been trying to source a copy but to no avail. I had a dog off Geoff Burrell about 15 years ago she was no show stopper but was supposedly a Smithfield lurcher, when he gave me her 'pedigree' I noticed there was German short haired pointer and husky in there, with the research I've done I know that these two breeds weren't even in the country at the time of the Smithfield drovers dogs, the nearest I can see in type is the rough coated Welsh collie which is now extinct, I think it was the Welsh but please correct me if I've got that mixed up. Atb to all.

I was reading one of my dads old books and was very interested in the old Smithfield drovers dogs, very shaggy coats and good feet and stamina, does anyone think that these dogs still exist tucked away somewhere or are they like the dodo(extinct). I am genuinely interested in this so lntelligent answers appreciated please.

My dad remembers the old days when people used paraffin or sheep dip, imagine that now.

That meeting was 2 years ago, one of the reasons I stopped was they only ever discussed fox hunting and I felt they didn't care less about the coursing and lurcher lads But I will tell you that if it hadn't been for the C.A we would still be coursing and hunting without fear of being arrested or harassed, all they had to do was agree to hunting being licensed and they couldn't even do that.

Sorry for your loss, but she was lucky to have a loving caring owner, like max said not so many dogs are that lucky and don't blame yourself, blame the asshole who was drunk at the wheel. R.I.P indi

I'm not saying shooting should be banned and I've no problem with shooting a hare for the pot, but until the ban is repealed the hare will continue to pay the price because of not only the antis but tony blaire who took a million pounds from the league against cruel sports. Also don't trust the countryside alliance when they say they are trying for repeal, don't forget we could have been hunting with a license but they vetoed it, also I was present at a meeting not too long ago when the alliance tried to get support for keeping the ban on coursing if fox hunting would be made legal. I've als

Absolute rubbish about only shooting surplus hares, a gun cannot know if the hare shot is strong or weak, a shotgun doesn't discriminate, also hares are mostly picked up with broken limbs or internal bleeding, an estate we used to run in Lincolnshire had over 2500 hares on it before the ban, the last hare count in 2014 was 147, the land owner has now kicked off all the guns as they were shooting hares and dumping them in a ditch against his wishes. If labour win the next election then there will be no shooting whatsoever.
