  1. Beckton, Gnasher..I hope That counts as the East End . does it or would it be classed as outer London?
  2. Man has,nt been to the moon never mind anything else.
  3. What sort of money was it to stay in the strand mate ?
  4. Credit where credit is due, I'd always lived over the west of London, ie: Ealing then Ruislip manor. As I,ve said we were very pleasantly surprised just how helpful everyone was, and with us jumping on and off tubes and trains a lot the efficiency in the way they run and the fact that it seems you don't have to wait more than a couple of minutes to connect to head of somewhere else stopped the boys getting bored. Who do I thank for this Vote #1 Boris Vote#2 Gnasher

    London

I,ve been down in London for the last few days and have to say how impressed I was compared to when I used to live there a few years ago. Staff on the tube/ underground always helpful, likewise the staff at the premier inn we stayed in , they could,nt do enough for us. Now when I lived there many years ago nobody had time for anybody else , always in a rush to get from A to B but this visit things were great. It was also the first time I,ve stayed over the east of London and even though we were a bit out the public transport system gets you where you want to be more or less hassle free. Cre
  6. Howard Davis came over here with a huge reputation then produced nothing when it mattered, when Jim Watt fought Sean o Grady he jumped about three feet forward to stick the nut on him and got away with it ? IMO Watt could not lace Buchanans boots when Kenny was at himself, don,t forget Kenny lived hard and whilst that is,nt Watts fault nothing will change my opinion that in his heyday Kenny would have battered him upside down, no offence Gnasher as you know more about the game than me but we all have opinions. The champion of the kelvin hall thing comes from the fact that Mctaggart, Buchana
  7. Burns is fighting again tonight, it would be nice to see him get another win after two defeats in his last two fights. No disrespect to the man but I never really thought Jim watt was anything special. A lot of the lads up here used to call him the champion of the kelvin hall as that was where he had nearly all of his fights, still he was world champ so he deserves some kudos. I was talking to wee Paul weir at the commonwealth games, he was a good little boxer, fast and not scared to go forward and take the fight to his opponent.
  8. I A mate of mine who was of the travellers could fight for fun in pubs etc, but could also really mix it in the ring, in fact he was was of the youngest ever Amateur champions up here , I would say that the boxing training he had from a youngster made him more able to fight in the ring than vice versa he was already a tear away but the discipline and training etc fine tuned him in the ring. . Incidentally he took on and beat near enough all the "faces" up here and never to my knowledge got beaten although it may well have happened, no world beater by any means but he could do it both ways. A
  9. Good enough for him, he was in the papers not long ago after dropping a load of money he supposedly put up to bring an American fighter over to Oz to challenge for some title or other. When the yank saw what a shambles it was turning out to be he flew home stating he had never been involved in anything like it. Fenech blamed the Aussie the yank was to fight and lo and behold the blokes restaurant/ bar was torched to the ground, Fenech was named as a person of interest but denied all knowledge, naturally. The bloke who lost his bar is no mug, interesting times ahead.
  10. Thing is if Joe had,nt have stood his ground and reversed it back on him by offering to take him on outside I,d of bet money Fenech would have taken a swing at him there and then, but he simply was,nt used to someone standing up to him in front of people
  11. A short story about Fenech , he had a really bad dose of small man syndrome at the best of times but when out and about with his entourage he was at his worst. I was in an RSL club ( much like the legion clubs here but a lot more fun) with a couple of mates including one who was about the same build as Fenech and had had a handful of fights mainly as a form of keeping fit and if he won well that was a bonus. Anyway my mate detested Fenech with a vengeance and although a wealthy young man ( i,m going back to when Fenech was in his first couple of years as world champion ) he always let his hear
  12. Welcome from Niddrie heights lol
  13. The first time Fenech fought Nelson and they gave it as a draw was won of the worst decisions I,ve seen, and saying that I supporting Nelson even though Fenech was an Aussie and I was living there at the time. Was,nt a nice wee man was Mr Fenech
  14. Spelling may be wrong I,m thinking it was the fella Mcguigan took the title off.
  15. How did you rate Eusobio Pedroza Gnasher ?
  16. Hi Tiercel, I have actually had a reply for Andrew himself, the print is number 508 ( from 850 printed ) he thinks from memory the print was £70 un framed back in 1990 when it was done so it looks like I may have had a result. Thanks for the reply anyway mate.
  17. I,ve just got a print by an artist called Andrew Hutchison titled "peregrine falcon " it is roughly 23" by about 151/2" and is signed and numbered, I,ve done the usual search engine routine to find out what it's worth and although he seems a very well known and respected artist I can,t seem to get a valuation of what it's worth ?. Any art connoisseur,s out there able to help Cheers
  18. Just had a look on a cigar shops website From London Mushroom and they are £9.99 each mate for the no 4's.

  20. Anytime Rake , it was a pleasure to meet.
  21. Rake you can buy decent ones individually if you don't need a box, some proper cigars to choose from.
  22. There,s a furniture shop in Glasgow on the London road called Sofa king cheap.
  23. There,s a great tobacconist in Edinburgh that has a huge selection of pipes and flavoured baccy etc. It's called Little Havana, great selection of cigars there also if your into them.
  24. Always thought his books were good for a laugh, better than some of the ones put out over here by some of our "villains"
