A right mare in the loft when you have two foot deep insulation to crawl over to rebait/reset daily..itch like a t***! Always stick a dust mask on and jump in the shower afterwards. Had 5 in the loft this year (may) and catch them most year round behind the shed..like to pick these ones up though when the young songbirds are about.

Was partial to a bit of the cocker's winalot prime year's ago when I was a wee lad.. the advert (not sure but think it had red setters in) had me drooling with all the meaty chunks covered in gravy! Think i might give that a miss though..

City and Guilds part 1+2 plus 3rd year advanced course in cabinet making and joinery..all gone to waste! Welder now for 20 years where bad back jack once resided! (When he was there!) Atb bud.

Pointer..just as a rough sort of gauge .. how hard mouthed have you found a bit of gwp makes a dog compared with other strains? i.e.. are they crunchers even on none toothy game /anything left for the table? (each dog to their own I know ) atb.

Going for it! Going to treat myself to the hawke next week and the medium sportsmatch mounts..will time it so they land after the double hernia op and I've got 2-3 month off work to play about with them, test a few pellets and badger the life out of you lot! Will dig this topic out of the depths and bump it up again with the clearance (or not ) with a photo or two and maybe some mounts for sale. End of the day 20 squids not going to break the bank and this might help somebody looking for the same set up? Atvb

That's food for thought..didn't think about that one! Appreciate all the replies..all this is getting taken on board. Just out of curiosity..is this much of a problem and is it worse on high/low mag,low light etc? Atb.

Thanks for the replies so far..got the hawke catalogue and the 50mm airmax scope has a 57mm total diameter objective lens..still capable with the medium sportsmatch mounts.. (with sportsmatch calculations on paper that is!) Mmm??..£20ish gamble on 1.5mm clearance?? Looking promising so far...atb.

Just purchased a new weihrauch hw100kt with the laminate adjustable stock..I would like to team this up with the hawke airmax 30 sf 4-16×50 scope with sportsmatch 2 piece mounts. Now by my calculations going off sportsmatch's way of working out barrel/scope clearance if I get the medium mounts i should get a 1.5mm barrel/scope clearance at the objective lens and if i get the high mounts i should get a 7.5mm barrel/scope clearance. Now I'd like to keep the scope as tight to the barrel as possible(without touching of course). Anybody else with the above combos?..any advice would be much appreci
