  1. Defo nothing in the garden or where i take em. The way they double up rigid & yelp whenever u touch em tells me its either poison or bad infection but can they be getting it from sheep shit if the sheep have recently been dipped or something?
  2. No rhubarb or bedding plants like that, & no paint. She was right as rain yesterday, now she can barely walk, back is arched & head down, & she's rigid. yelps whenever I touch her, especially neck/shoulder area. Other pup was like it last week, but ok now. must be something with diet but not affecting other dogs.
  3. Good point Dawn. Thought about this one. Put slug pellets down a few weeks ago & the dogs have been kept well away. After a few weeks they've been dissolved into the soil but if a pet ate grass growing in the soil, could it be carrying the poison? Says on the label its safe to use around edible plants though. Another thing I thought of was sheep shit-as you can imagine its everywhere down here & the dogs are always picking at it. vet says it can't hurt em though.
  4. 5 months now. must be an infection but can't understand what makes em go stiff. like rigormortise, legs straight & stiff neck. can't even get up over the doorstep & walks slower than a snail.
  5. Yeh they were dehydrated 1st time. now I recognise the signs I've been making sure they don't. Think I will phone the vets though, for £250 total you would think blood tests would have been done. 2nd time around I,ve been dosing them myself with penecillin & painkiller, keeping them hydrated & bringing the temp down. Wierd thing is, yesterday morning the 2nd pup was her usual pain in the arse self. Been in the garden with me all day, showed no symptoms but then late in the afternoon was like she just keeled over, totally lifeless.
  6. Can anyone help with pup problems? The vet's taken all my money but still not sorted!! About 6 weeks ago the 1st of my pups was ill, high temp, lifeless, walking like it was rigid & yelped whenever i touched it anywhere. Ended up in the vets on a drip, anti-biotics, x-ray etc & £150 later, by the end of the week, back to normal. 2 weeks later pup no2 was the same. Week later & another £100 and she's ok but pup No1's got it again. Treated it myself this time & today she's running round like an idiot but pup no2 is real sick again, same thing. I got 5 other dogs, terriers,
  7. Tockers!!! They're called mongrels mate & only a complete Numpty would pay £120 for one. If they get the WORSE traits from both breeds what use are they?
  8. Hey SS, you ought to be writing for the mags!! ps what's a Common woodpecker? D'you mean a Green?
  9. My whippet/greyhound brought a squirrel back live the other day but there was no way I was taking it off him!! Called my bitch pup over who's a little more aggressive with them to sort it out!!
  10. Got a CZ Varmint HMR full length barrel & after-market thumbhole stock & its superb for the money. Have the .22 in American 16" too & there's a big difference in the weight. If weight isn't an issue the Varmint gives more confidence. Agree about the trigger though, my .22's had the Brookes conversion & it makes a hell of a difference. Overall I can't see that spending so much more on other makes can improve performance that much.
  11. Jeez Jack Russell mate, if I didn't know better I'd swear that bitch was my own, spitting image of mine. I'll post some pics later. Rob
  12. Probably Eastern European otters mate!! Then again they would have ate the swans too!!
  13. Got a BSA Lightning XL in .25 cal if your interested. superb ratting & squirrel gun to 25/30yds. comes with scope & sling, and I'll be in Burton on the weekend buying a .17HMR. let me know!
  14. Yeh Butch, couldn't help it last saturday when my dog Russell had hold of one!! but it bit him on the chops & he released his grip. He was up to his neck in the river & I never saw where the mink went!!! Weren't looking for anything just out walking, thats why I'm asking the question.
  15. Cheers Moggs , I'll try that. They got big kennels so might move her on her own to one with a smaller bedding area. I'll let u know, otherwise I'll be trying moxy's method!!
  16. Hi all, has anyone got any ideas how to stop my 15 month old lurcher bitch shatting & pissin in her kennel, & I mean actually in the bed itself. Have tried shavings, paper, straw & nothing but whatever I do she still seems to love pissin & shatting in it. in fact she shats on anything, even on the ridge of 1 of the other dogs outside kennel. I'm on the verge of gettin rid of her but she's a real nice sort & comin along nicely in the field. Any suggestions??
  17. Can anyone tell me what's legal & what's not when hunting mink & squirrel. I assume you cannot hunt with more than 2 dogs, but can they only be flushed to the gun?? As they are not native species are they included in the Hunting Act? Also what if the dogs catch one, are you breaking the law?
  18. Scent, check out a post on Irish Hunting forum under the terrier section(sorry, don't know how to post links!) Guy had his 3rd dog stolen in Meath(last October)
  19. Is the battery pack a belt type mate?
  20. Looking for a Cocker, Springer or Sprocker bitch pup, anything up to 1 yr old. Papers/colour unimportant but must be docked and from good working stock. Wanted for beating & rough shooting. Anyone know of any litters, please point me in the right direction.
