Not bothered breeding ferts before, but lost a few to the terriers earlier this year and as I got 3 real nice jills left I mated them to a mates good black eyed silver hob. got 21 kits total & their eyes are just opening. What i want to know is whats the best food to start them on. they've been tucking into the jills mince already. Is it better to soak some dried food or maybe some tinned cat food, or just leave them have the mince. they just seem a bit young for it yet. got plenty of rabbits available too

Red fox survey-changes before and after hunting ban
robgriff1 replied to Pernille Egeberg's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
30 in 10 days just sums up the rifle brigade Wilf. If foxes are a pest, taking lambs etc then fine it has to be sorted. But the rifle boys are just out to shoot as many foxes as possible & they aint got the brains to see what they're doing is wrong. 30 foxes in 10 days aint pest control, its killing for the sake of killing & they're givin all shooters a bad name. -
Could ave tried rehoming her 1st bud, killin it was bit drastic!!

Got a 11 month old whippet grey & he's the best I've had so far, very laid back & loyal. Been slow to mature but just started to switch on. got high hopes for him. Best of luck.

Early days mate, they all mature at different rates. Bought a lurcher pup a year ago, best looking pup was all over me in the pen, a real outgoing type & I didn't choose him. the breeder looked at me in amazement but I wasn't after a showdog. I picked a darker pup, very quiet & laid back but not timid. A year on & I think I made the right choice. he's still laid back but like my shadow, by my side wherever I go. He's been real slow to mature but seeing him tear off after a couple of rabbits & a charlie this past week makes me certain he's going to be a nice dog. Give him time,

Just like any other crosses you can bring out the worst from each side too. That said i've seen a few sprockers now & they've all been A1 workers. £250 seems the going rate & when you take off the cost of docking, flea & worming treatments & grub then it aint a bad price for 10 years or more of work from a dog is it?

See what you're saying mate but I've made the decision to pack in rough shooting, & sold my three guns. The dog has been bred to work and if I can't give her the work she loves then she's not going to be that happy is she? I've hopefully found her a good shooting home with a retired gent who can give her the time and commitment she needs. As hard as it is, the decision has been made in the interests of the dog not my own feelings. A terrier needs the earth work its bred for(or bushing depending on what takes your drift!), a lurcher's born to run, a gundog lives to flush & retrieve shot -

Cheers lads, been a hard decision. She's like 1 of the kids! Hopefully found her a good shooting home already. I'll keep you posted. -
Was laid off a few weeks ago & after much thinking decided shooting was a luxury I couldn't afford next season. So, have given up my syndicate place, sold my shotgun & rifles and the most reluctant sale is my young springer bitch. She was bought last year to replace my older dog(behind in the picture, now retired). She has been basic trained, stay, sit, retrieving, whistle etc. She's had the air rifle & starter pistol but not shotgun yet. She needs someone with the time & patience to bring her on and I think she's gonna be a superb rough shooting and beating dog, way in front of

thats right mate all that nonsence lol i sue to be good with airguns i havent bothered with them for a while now i couldnt even tell you the newest airgun on the shelves, its got a gold thing that can let all the air out of the systen aswell to stop any condensation (as you probably already know) I own the Mk1 but its heavy, when I get some cash to spare I will be buying the quick fill bottle that your/ this gun has as it reduces the weight considerably. These guns are one of the best on the market and imop the best by far in the under £700 price range I will certainly never g

Mate, if they offered anyone £550 for a 2nd hand HW100TK they'd be out of business in no time. If that's true why didn't you sell it to them then??? Keens will only offer about £300-350 for an early model like that.

Pics of pups & dam/sire would help mate.

ERIC BROOKS TRIGGER KIT CZ 452
robgriff1 replied to richie's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Richie, thanks mate. I've had a Brookes kit for about a month for my HMR but never had a clue what to do with it...until now! Just what I needed, an idiots guide to fitting it. I'll let you know how it went. -
I use a Half choke for every thing & change to im/cy with steel at ducks on the shore. I dont know but do you mention to use 3-1/2" cartridges is your gun chamberd for them? a 2-3/4" & 3" cartridge used to moderation for distance will kill the secret is not to take crazy hi shots as many do. Yes, gun is chambered for 3-1/2" but been using 2-3/4" 3's. The price of the big 'uns frightened me! Other lads are using 3" & 3-1/2" BB's. either I'm missing them all or them canadas are tough! I see some lads taking shots which must be 50yds+, too far as I see it, but I'm usually the

Can anyone advise on the best choke to use in my Browning Gold Hunter s/a? The gun came with 3 chokes, a full turkey, an improved cylinder invector & another unmarked, but it looks full choke. I'm a relative beginner & the cartridges I have been using(for geese)are 2 & 3/4" 3's but will be going up to 3" or 3 & 1/2" BB's. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, got my 1st goose today, a Canada!!!!!!!!!!
