    Spot on FM. It's the stigma that comes with a dog getting stuck in. That all these dogs are laid up for weeks on end ok some circumstances are unavoidable and I have seen stupid fool hardy dogs career last not long at al, but I know plenty digging men who hold dogs that are stuck in so to speak and nothing else will keep it's quarry pinned, definitely yapping won't. These dogs can be brought on for another dig that day or tomorrow or the weekend after. So the arguement a yapper is more use as it can be dug more often is dead in the water in our parts as they would be the ruination on good eart

    That's obvious as agreed on in recent post, to be clearer on what I was trying to get across you can have the best bred pup so to speak but in a fools hand it can be ruined by maybe given to much to soon, as said upbringing will not make a terrier but I believe it's paramount a terrier needs to be looked after regardless because you won't get 100 percent out of a mistreated terrier

    Not sure what to make of that statement their working fine here I suppose what I mean is as I said genes plays it's roll but so does the up bringing in any terrier. For instance say we both have a pup out if the same litter and say im a terrible terrieman and I have a half starved nervous terrier and you are a good terrierman and your terrier is well looked after and full of life, It would be safe to say your terrier would have a far better chance of fulfilling his working life and passing on the gene and mines chancing would be alot less so I would think the upbringing of a terrier would matt

    I don't try to get caught up in the percentage/genetics side of it to much as I'm sure their is no particular way set in stone, I would think both dog and bitch contribute as much as the other does. I've even a litter hear at the moment the 3 bitchs came like the father chunky type, and both dogs came like the mother leggy broken coated type. I think their temperament is an individual factor as it is in each terrier and to master it threw genes would be a real credit to any man, I see it as some have the temperament for the job some just never will. I'm sure most of us try do what's right by

    Jasus we sweated like fook and to be fair we where just keen to get out but I won't turn a blind eye to the weather again like that it was definitely too warm at 4 o clock and the whiskey from the night before was really and truly coming out a me at that stage there is nothing worse ?

    Out today, got a dig at 5ft it was very hard digging and heffers really made things uncomfortable stupid beasts. Almost in and the fecker bolted, with the dog trailing him about 200 yards down the ditch and entered into an old earth, worked him for about 20 mins before pinning him at a stopend. We got a reading of 3 foot and got the result in the end. Off again in the morning.

I think if you had half the experience with dogs that mister delaney had you may be worth listening to but I'm sure your knowledge on dogs is the same as a childs knowledge on politics. Do you even own a working dog of any kind even a sheepdog or gaurd dog because you come across an anti to me just arguing with everyone cause your little sad life is the blame of everyone else.
