I tend to buy my own stuff , but the issued stuff is second to none , I've been getting altbergs and haix issued for a few years now as I have damaged ankles but now they're the default issued boot The Ubacs are a fantastic bit of kit, the new sleeping bag is more compact than the old jouncing bomb, added to a goretex bivi bag and on top of a thermarest inflatable roll mat underneath a properly set up poncho with pegs and you'll be dry in most weathers Socks aren't fantastic but for the price, I'd always buy bridgedales I think half the trouble is that when worn shabbily it looks shit, but if given the choice I'd take British trousers over American or German any day if the week , once that yank kit gets wet, its heavy P smocks are terrible in the wet, and any smock non ferocious which has seen cuffs stitched on looks abysmal A good rule to go buy is if it rains , you'll get wet if not in gortex If your overly layered, you'll get hot One layer under gortex max in rain If cold or windy 2 layers max make that base layer merino or at least lifa Actions keep you dry and warm, not clothing 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
