mushroom 12,389
I'd be concerned if I was only feeding tripe and heart, while tripe has the correct calcium/phosphorus ratio I'd want to feed a somewhat more varied diet to a growing pup. Knew a man who reared a litter on nothing but ox tongue and heart: 3 yearlings all broke legs and it was found they had next to no calcium in their bodies Not sure if thats aimed at me, lovie dickhead gets all the food stated plus obviously he gets extras like meaty bones ribs, chicken carcass etc weekly, he is looking awesome and his coat is bonny and ti add the amount of times the daft sod has thrown himself to his death and broke fec all tells me his bones are just fine
white van man 3,187
As part of a good mixed diet tripe is great, BUT if you are feeding fresh unwashed tripe, you have to feel each bit you feed the dogs to check there are no fencing staples, bits of barbed wire embedded in it. That means kneading each piece carefully. You'd be amazed at the number of staples, those big ones, that are snugly wrapped within the tissue! Good tip that skycat. Mine comes to me in need of washing/rinsing and as part of that I can check there's nothing in there that shouldn't be!! havnt found staples in there yet but have found small pieces metal/plastic
