  1. Hello all.? Just an update as it has been a while.I have been looking for a subsonic .22LR hollow point that shoots well from a cold clean bore and have recently started using RWS subs which do well, typically from the first shot..I have used a few different brands of subsonic H.P.s and they all group quite well after 5 or so fouling shots, but RWS like the cold clean bore, needless to say I am a happy and for me, decent shooting.?.I have used the RWS before in the old Annie 1416 DG and it was equally consistent in that rifle. A couple of typical below all from a cold clean bore..My s

  4. Hi has anyone used the icotec foxcaller from bestfoxcall to any success? i was hoping to get a bit of info about them, like when/where do they work Best, what calls you recommend using in what month etc,I am fully aware it won’t be a case of switching it on and foxes come from every direction and you can’t bolt the rifle fast enuff?any information greatly appreciated if you’ve had experience with one or similar many thx Dave
  5. It's got to that time when I need to buy some more cartridges, i was just interested to see what everyone's suggestions were for an economical cartridge for walking around doing some rough shooting (not "game", just vermin). I've been using Hull superfast but i'm up for a change. I would like to try some of "Proper cartridges" cartridges but where i am it's very hard to get hold of them... I know this will cause a lot of discussion but you don't learn by not asking questions... Cheers - Max
  6. Gents, I'm currently in Wilshire. just got back frim Afghanistan in October. the wife has treated me to a Cz 455 Varmint .22 fitted with Hawke panorama for Xmas. I'm itching to get out and putting the girl through her paces, I have a permission but its an hour away from where I live and there are limitations as to when I can go down. Also have a HW97 .22 fitted with Hawke eclipse 4x16 if the opportunity for a bit of close quarter combat rises with some rats lol Any one in Wiltshire (not fussed were abouts) looking for a bit of company on a shoot, sit there and listen to my crap war sto
  7. Haven't had time to put this post up earlier in the week and todays my first chance. I work a odd shift pattern, 4 days on and 4 days off which gives me plenty of time to go shooting on my days off, its pretty handy actually. I had arranged on my last four off that me and my mate would go do some serious pest control on a couple of farms that were getting hammered by all sorts of pests. Feral pigeons, foxes, rabbits and canada geese. All which we were more than happy to take out of the equation ! The day started with a pump up of the air arms s400, should i add that we only had a hand

  9. I've Just purchased a new Browning T-Bolt in .22 stainless. I already own a CZ 452 in .22. Can anyone tell me if I can expect to get the same accuracy out of the Browning as I already do from the CZ ? I purchased the CZ new in 1992 and its still in original condition (no mods). I'm shooting about an inch group at 60 yards (with no wind) with the CZ Have I made the right choice with the new purchase ?
  10. i thought i would put this video in the rimfire section as well as the night vision section as it crosses both categories. we were out for nights shooting rabbits with our .22lr's mine a CZ 452 with Boyd's stock and micks a ruger 77/22 we ended up with 160 rabbits by the end of the night. The mist kept coming and going so it made for difficult filming with night vision so apologies in advance for the odd fuzzy shot. all the rabbits were head shot as they were going to the game dealers in the morning as soon as we had finnished. Enjoy Cheers Daz
  11. I was actually thinking the same thing, is there another alternative to the .17hmr which offers great accuracy over longer range, less effected by the wind and does no more damage to the meat?. As i have no experience with the 22 or 17 hornets and neither the 17 remington or fireballs i can understand that there may be varied factors to take into account and reloading being one in favour, so if someone like myself or another person thinking of changing calibre would the types calibre's i've stated be viable options, i know that you always end up sacrificing in one way or another. almost f
  12. Hi all I'm looking at a new browning x bolt stainless fluted stalker in 22-2250 for fox and roe and if anyone has one your comments on the gun itself would be great Any additional info on ammo and distances etc would be great too Cheers guys
  13. For a long time now When i'm removing the tails of shot foxes i leave the tail bone still attached to charlie. I'm now looking for a good way to preserve the tails. I've tried salt but it didn't work for me. I was told ages ago about Borex but can't find it in any of the chemists I go to, most of them no longer have it on their system. I was thinking of using methylated spirit but was told by the Chemist that this probably won't work. Any ideas lads?

  17. Hi I'm after a 9mm garden gun for my grandson, anyone got one for sale?
  18. I know this question has probably been asked before, but I am a novice and have a lot (approx 7 years) experience with air rifles, been clay shooting a couple of times, and want an fac for a .17 hmr. My grandfather has land and I would like to shoot rabbits and the "oppurtunistic" fox although I probably won't shoot any! I would also like to do some target shooting just at cans and paper targets etc on the same land. Does this provide good reason for an fac for this gun of this calibre? It is a 45 minute drive to the land and he would give me full permission to shoot. Also, would i be allowed
