The Seeker 3,048
At risk of committing thread necromancy, I see this thread is missing its conclusion. Questions about what happened are un-answered, since this is one of the first hits that came up, and I needed to do digging, I thought I'd add that completion. Please don't hold the fact that it contains some personal opinion against me. First of all, just in case anyone gets the impression that I'm anti-hunt. I'm not (although I only hunt rabbits with air-rifle, it's all I have access to), but I am anti-aggression and anti-rage. I'm sure you all dearly loved Mr Morse, but for all his strengths it was his weaknesses and nothing else that killed him. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/gyrocopter-pilot-bryan-griffiths-cleared-over-hunt-supporter-trevor-morses-death-1922838.html So impassioned by the belief that some anti was out to ruin their hunt (didn't believe it was simply being monitored, as there is a reasonable right to do), and so desperate to stop the Gyro, he signed and sealed his own doom. He went and stood in front of the Gyro, trying to stop it. If he wasn't so impetuous, he may have thought something like "but what if it can't stop on time". Sheer anger, determination and (momentary) idiocy caused his death. Perhaps he thought it was a helicopter and didn't realize there was another faster rotor which would split his skull on impact, and that it cannot take off vertically like a helicopter in order to avoid him. The intelligent thing to do would be to get the police to the airfield if possible, if not stand back and take pictures allowing the offender (if he did indeed go below 500m, who measured?) to be found and caught. Or simply wait for them to land and stop the engine. I certainly thought it was universal wisdom not to run onto an airfield, in front of anything that can fly, because the result is never pretty and virtually unavoidable. Whatever the reason for the Gyro not stopping before it hit Mr Morse, you have to question the sheer stupidity (brave or not) of standing in front of, and refusing to move out of the way of, something which if it hits you will kill you. People who have called for the pilot's incarceration and called him all sorts of things are terribly blind. People comparing the pilot to terrorists are so misinformed it begs the question as to whether they have ever stepped outside their closed little world. Let his tragic death be a reminder to all against getting gripped by rage and acting foolishly. It may well cost you your life and certainly won't achieve much. Despite his faults, and how little I know of Mr Morse, I sincerely hope he rests in peace. You misguided fool, a man lost his life what ever your views on fox hunting if you and your anti friends believe any human life is a sacrifice worth making to gain some kind of brownie points then SHAME on you. Quote "Whatever the reason for the Gyro not stopping before it hit Mr Morse, you have to question the sheer stupidity (brave or not) of standing in front of, and refusing to move out of the way of, something which if it hits you will kill you." Perhaps antis will remember this when trying to stop horses moving whilst holding a camcorder for your 3 minutes of glory on you tube. Quote "I'm sure you all dearly loved Mr Morse, but for all his strengths it was his weaknesses and nothing else that killed him." I'm afraid I neither knew nor dearly loved Mr Morse but I'm sure he will have family that does and misses him, not that would stop you posting this diatribe. If this is the level of attitude within the anti community I can truly say I am so far removed from these bigoted views it's unbelievable
trooperman 73
monkeymonkey like you i am anti rage and anti aggression i would sooner talk about a problem rather than put my fists up and deal with it that way...this said how can you come on here and quote from a pile of crap paper like you did...as a fellow hunter if that is indeed what you are your coments should of been one of sorrow for the familiy of Trev...he stood up for some thing he beleives in you should realise this and anti's only love is to cause as much trouble as possible they dont only want to stop any thing that any one wants to do for sport and food they just want to cause problems and they dont care how they do it or how its done....so in future do not quote from some one else's report because if it has any thing to do with shooting it will always be biased so keep the opinion of others to your self the THL Forum is not the place for it and that it why you have got the replies you maybe did not want to hear...talk openly about shooting and shooting related things do not talk about things you have no idea about. paul
