dean 29 27
Can anyone tell me if it is classed as poaching when you are ferreting roadside? Not trespassing on anyones fields, just the grass verge on the side of a country road. Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
Roadside verges belong to the highways commission i think. Either way you would be asking for trouble IMO. Quote Link to post
labsnlurchers 39
I think the council own from the roadside 1m in, anything past 1m in is the landowners. One of our landowners had something digging in the bank and the dirt was going on the road, he had hassle off the council as it was past 1m in. We ferret roadside but only where we have permission on the ground the otherside of the fence/hedge. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
council own it, but its managed by roadside agency, Ive got a link somewhere I'll try and find it, or look yourself on the nation ferret register, the links there somewhere Quote Link to post

You are recommended to get permission because in that situation you are almost certainly gonna get somebody pull up and spoil your day. Quote Link to post

hound 1
it depends on what type of road it is. if its a motorway or duel carriage way you will need permission of the highways agency. this is impossible to get for joe bloggs. as you will need a licence, be a regierstied pest control firm, have traffic managment in place, have hiviz clothing, van all hivized up with flashing lights etc. so it aint easy. oh did i say this is what im do for the firm i work for when i get round to it i post some pics Quote Link to post
The one 8,594
Done a few roadside warrens you got to watch out as the hardcore spreads out a few feet from the side of the road and its bloody hard digging Quote Link to post
oyama 27
I did it a couple of times with permission from the council, but the abusiveness from traffic and things thrown at me made me think it was'nt worth it. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
On land you have permission on, if its a hedge near a roadside you can do both sides, but stray away from the hedge and you need permission from your local council or highways department. Quote Link to post
