old dog 210
we were out Wednesday, farmer just started lambing hasn't see a fox for a long time, now he's lambing they're everywhere,it's not an easy place to hunt, there's two big forestry blocks with two big fern banks in between them, and because it's midweek I'm relaying on the farmers to turn up,most of the boy's are back in work after Christmas, hounds found straight away rising 3 foxes out of a big fern and bramble bank i seen one crossing about 200 yards down from where i was standing,he ran up into the forest hounds had split most of the pack was hunting the one i seen, while the others were speaking further on down the valley, the music was tremendous they had travelled a fair distance through the forestry out onto the fern bank crossed that and into the next forestry, there goes my plans of trying to hunt it in sections,i could only just hear the other hounds that had split of from the main pack they were in two different places, they also started to hunt down the valley, one of the farmers said he'd shot one another had crossed higher up from where he was standing and gone back into the forestry, hounds came on to the one he'd shot,he holla'ed hounds away on the other and of they went again, the scent was good considering how hard the ground was even under the pine trees the ground was rock hard,we started hunting at 10-30am and finished at 2-30pm hounds hunted all the time we only accounted for two which was a bit disappointing we will have to do this place on a Sunday when there's more guns out to keep the farmer happy within the next couple of weeks.
