Yokel Matt 918
Is not going to be rocket science on them bud, i'd just get some batteries in it and have a good old practice in your living room or something. Better to make your mistakes and iron out problems above ground hey Personally, i'd also wrap some bright insulating tape or spray it with some tree marking paint so that you don't misplace it while you're out and about. gnipper 7,003
Might sound a daft question but you did get a collar with it didn't you? Make sure you put the batteries opposite way up to each other too in the collar. One switch is on and off with the - and 0 and the other with l and s is for locate and search, locate goes to 8ft and the search goes to 16ft but not accurately its just for finding where abouts the ferret is in the burrow. When you have found where abouts it is switch to locate and pinpoint where it is holding it upright with the leds at the top. By listening to the pitch of the horible noise when it goes to the highest pitch its the closest point, I do an x with the locator to find the nearest point then start digging. If you watch the leds it will confuse you as they go up and down as the ferret is ragging the rabbit or just because they want to. I was gonna bin mine when I got it but I stuck with it and it is a lot better than mk1, even my old mate who comes with me is thinking of getting one after slagging mine off all last season Good luck, Gnipper I'm pretty sure the batteries don't go opposite ways to each other, you'd be putting a + and + together. I'm pretty sure they do coz if you put them both the same way up it doesn't work. Have you seen a mk3 collar? They aren't the same as a mk1 with the screw on cap, the batteries go next to each other in the transmitter. Quote Link to post

The furthest away battery goes upside down, the closet one to you is the right way up. If you get stuck, I have a mk 3, but with squelch button. I can answer any questions you have Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
is it possible to use two collars with one locator? and if so how would you do it ? because am thinking of getting another collar I use two nearly always, one locator, you only need to use the locator to find ferrets when they dont show for a while. stealthy1 3,964
i no that but how doe's your locator box pick up two signals from the two collars ? If they are together its one signal, if they drift apart you can follow them both on locate, what I do is, if one kills underground I try to get the other out and in the box, if they are together then just dig both out at the same time, it can get complicated in small warrens, it takes a bit of practice.
