I voted yes, as we have to pay for everything that we go to here. The way I see it these days is that you only have the pleasure for a while and I guess like a lot of other authorities these days, there is no financial help for schools. We do a fair bit to help with the backing music etc for the concerts and wouldn't like to think at what expense. :)

does anybody else help with their child's school maintenance? A lot of the decorating/maintenance is done by the school staff and parents at ours. A bit different for us as Bee is the Cook, cleaner and caretaker :icon_eek::thumbs:, I even wash up in the kitchen when the need arises, find it quite therapeutic (feck me that's a big word for me  ) helping and seeing very happy children, guess no amount of money can buy that :)

I've paid for going to see there plays both at Christmas and Easter don't agree with it but when they were younger there faces when you said you weren't going made you feel so cruel guess thats why they ask for ticket money they know most parents wouldn't let there kids down and grandparents for that too .....

Very true CJ, but I think they get given a budget and so the more the PTA/parents can do, the more facilities, equipment, trips, extras the kids get........sad but true.

If they cant raise money through the PTA/donations......then it has to come out of the capital budget and other stuff then suffers!!

You remember good old England mate...........pay, pay and pay again!!

I can live with that and wouldn't think twice about helping out.

What's really getting me down is the fact that we have to pay someone to authorise these budgets and dispense the money. Yet more government bureaucracy. I just wish people could see how mismanaged the local authorities are... We can find billions to shore up failed businesses, and send soldiers to die in the desert, but we're coppering up for our kids education.

It's a f*****g disgrace.

My wife and I's minor dissagreement started because i said it was unfair to just tell us we have to pay to see out kids xmas play.

Not that i wouldn't pay..

I would, but as has been hinted about already, I would prefer them to ask for donations, or ask permission to charge, or put a cover letter out.

As Chris, said.. we can afford wars and the government allows RBS to continue to finance Formula one etc.. Pay shamed Social worker bosses 6 figure salries whilst on suspension etc...

Given people are going to pay to see my children, i would have liked to have been asked my permission/opinion.

I will be paying to see my kids, for my kids. i'm not that petty that i wouldn't pay.. :victory:
