Kay 3,709
i would advise to to check daily for any small gaps, i know so far the ferrets not escaped , but make sure you check regularly, i would also make sure theres some shelter for the ferret, if your leaving him unattended to wander round the garden Quote Link to post
cometa300s 20
yes mate he has shelter and i have made sure that there is no gaps any where. nice one for the post mate Quote Link to post
Coatesy900 0
I know everyone always says as much space as possible is always better, but if its a young un' they can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed by it all if they have previously been kept in relativly small quarters. Same goes, keep checking theres no way it can get out. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
not something that I'd recomend, but each to their own Quote Link to post
para1 11
unless you live in a glass bowl mate say goodbye to your ferret and I hope he doesn't get squashed on the nearest road or perhaps he knows the green cross code Quote Link to post

I totally agree, they can become somewhat conditioned to a confind area, its what most people do allow the ferret far to much space when they first get a ferret & wonder why the animal is skitty Quote Link to post
ade33uk 86
sorry mate but i cant see any garden being ferret proof , and also theres the problem of cats they can do a lot of damage to a ferret , by all means let him out in the garden but not unattended . Quote Link to post
cometa300s 20
well thanks guys from what has been said i think i will just have to make him quite a big run instead of just letting him rome about. thanks for the help il keep you posted. thanks again liam Quote Link to post
deanflute 550
need to watch out for birds trying to get at the ferret aswel Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
I reckon it will be fine if your just letting him out for a hour or so at a time and you stay with him . Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
the problem with giving a ferret to much room is that they can go a little feral on you and becoome a tad difficult to handle ... i have done this in the past as a youngster.... the best thing you can do for your ferret is get another one as they love company and are a much happier animal when they have another ferret to play with day in day out ......... will.f11 24
My mate has a small garden round the back of his house (not grass) with solid brick walls and a flat wooden gate. all he does is block the small drainage holes through the concrete walls and they wander around. he has never lost one and i would do the same if i lived where he did. mine have a hutch/type of court with lots of hutches connected with tunnels and a big run attached and mine have never minded that they have loads of space Quote Link to post
