For anyone who can't be bothered to look at the link, a little girl was drowning off the Devon coast, caught in a rip tide and dragged out. Swimmers tried to rescue her and couldn't. The local lifeboat was suspended from service due to health and safety reasons, another was launched from six miles away, ETA 25-30 minutes. It was deemed too long to leave the child so the local crew took their boat and rescued her. They are now waiting to find out whether or not they are to face disciplinery charges.

Absolutely incredible. :wallbash::censored:

Remember the policeman who wouldn't go into that lake to save a kid from drowning until he had "back up" as it was against proceedure?

mmmm....who would you rather have on your team?

Quite.

The MCA (Maritime & Coastguard Agency) have said they put themselves and others at risk by using the boat....

....They are volunteers!! They put themselves at risk all the time!! They want bloody medals not disciplinery preoceedures!! :wallbash:

Argh!! Someone needs a slap.

it wasnt a policeman if its the one im thinkin off, it was 2 pco's and they wouldnt go in because they "wasn't trained" for it, the kid that actually died jumped in to rescue his younger sister, just goes to show a 10yo lad has more balls than a "trained copper"

You may well be right, I can't remember the exact details - just remember how pathetic I thought him, and how he surely must despise himself. How anyone can stand by and watch children drowning is beyond me... that's why I was so disgusted at this new story. It is a world gone mad.
