2-3 units per day for women

3-4 units per day for men

Nothing to do with how much you can drink it's the physiological make up of male and female livers.

And they reckon you need 48 hours to recover from a session (liver again) before you can drink again or it starts to damage the liver

So 6 units per day everyday is causing major damage to the liver ?

Not really Kay. The recommended limits are what the government have set out as a 'One size fits all' type of limit. Everyone is different. Some peoples bodies can handle drink a lot more than others. The liver is a remarkable organ, it's the only organ in the body that can regenerate itself. You have to damage a hell of a lot of it before it gets to the point of no return.

Feck it,

It's the only thing were still good at as a Nation ffs :big_boss:

The Royal Navy, when we had those 'wooden walls' was half pissed all the time :victory:

I spent 9 years in Germany fighting off the Russian hordes (that never came) and can only remember 4 days of it :whistling:

It's not a modern thing, weve always been piss 'eds, as have pretty much all the Scandinavians, Germans and Dutch.

If anything, it should lead us to distrust the most foul and foreign French even more :feck:

Not only do they get pissed on Wine ( ladies fruit based drink, Al Murray ) but claim it's good for them, then go around kissing other blokes

Backs to the wall ladies and gentlmen and fill your boots or become French :drink::drink::drink::drink:

sod the units Kay, loada ole codswallop...do as i do....drink as much as you can in as little time as you can, basically till you drop...make sure it's indoors then someone can pick you up and put you to bed. Next day or maybe the day after who knows you will wake up not knowing how much you drank hence not having the guilt trip and not knowing how many units youv'e had...works all the time for me...although a friend of mine tried this and started coughing up blood, but it passed rather quickly :tongue2:

Kay just drink what you feel merry with :drinks: All this guidelines,bad/good for you :big_boss: if your overdoing it :alcoholic: your body will let you know one way or the other...just keep off the Meths/Blue stratos you,ll be okay :drink::cheers:

Its not me  i am still recovering from my guiness fest in 2007 on st paddys day , i was working out this units thing , apparently a man can have 4 units a day , so i worked out what i have just chucked in the recycling bin here & one days consumption equates to a weeks worth in units

I think we will be having words later

A blat every night is a bit different from the occasional high spot. I have known cases of "stress relief" drinking, where pressure at work is intolerable. People can hit the bottle when they get home to escape from it. Escape can become a habit. Unachievable targets, excessive unnecessary paperwork, bullying in the workplace for example. One young lady teacher working for me in a "very difficult" secondary school with "challenging pupils" was getting through at least half a bottle of Bacardi a night. It took the nightmares away so she could sleep. Relocation solved her problems. She is now confident and in control in her new post. There were others not quite up to that standard but getting close, she was by no means alone. It might help to look for possible causes of high consumption before going on the assault. Sympathy and understanding may get you further than a dash down the warpath?

However I have known others who just liked to start drinking after work and drink until they got mad enough for a fight. One of my relatives is like that. I don't know why. He doesn't know why. He's a very nice chap sober.

Alcohol is good, it's nice to relax and feel mellow amongst good friends. What better way to spend an evening?

Hope you manage to find a happy ending.
