All that rubbish about Magpies is an old Christian myth. Basically the story goes that unlike the other birds, Magpies refused to wear all black after the death of Christ. Therefore, they're in league with the Devil and if you're nice to them they might not bring the wrath of all hell upon you.

I aint superstitious but my mum is really bad

 

New shoes on table ,,, bad luck

 

drop a knife ,, male visitor

 

never use a knife to stir tea in a teapot ,, bad luck

 

the first footer at new year must be dark haired ,, or not a good year

 

when the bells go at new year you have to open both front door and back door ( if you have 2 doors that is lol ) front door to let the new year in and the back door to get rid of the old year ( never understood that though .

 

 

Itchy nose - you will have quarrel with someone.

 

If you drop a comb while you are combing your hair is a sign of a coming disappointment.
