i the wost person 2 ask about ferrets as i have v little ex in them but do thy not have 2 be hand reared so there taime ??

i think he's asking hand reared as in fed by hand from birth instead of with the jill .. ie she wont accept them etc... and therefore would not have the benefit of their mothers experience etc..

:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash: get a goldfish

if you hand reared a kitt, why should it be any different from a ferret raised kitt, its instinct that gets them catching rabbits, or are you saying, the jill tells her litter of kitts, bedtime stories on how to catch rabbits

never heard of it being done but i suppose it is possible if not practical.

hang & bang you don't hand rear to tame just the same as a kitten or a puppy handle them from babies. Hope this helps :victory:

Graham Wellstead in his book "The Ferret and Ferreting Guide" writes about a litter of kits he hand reared from 4 days old.He goes into detail the ins and outs of rearing the litter in which 8 out of the 10 kits survived.He concludes by saying the kits grew up to be the most fantastic workers,absolutely steady at all times.It's well worth a read for anyone thinking of hand rearing a litter of kits.

There is a potential problem that the kits won't have the essential shit from "mother's milk" but other than that, like any animal, hand reared or natural, it's what you put into them that counts, literally. Cheers, D.
