Guest JohnGalway
Morning folks, Been pondering posting anything about this at all. No good will come of it but to be honest I don't care at this point. I'm not going to mention any names, people can draw whatever conclusions they like but I won't name names so no point in asking. I did a favour for someone a while back. This person wanted to buy a particular item here in Ireland. An expensive item, I thought him foolish to pay that type of money so I told him he'd get it cheaper elsewhere. He asked where, I said online, he asked would I get him one if I saw one since he'd no credit card or paypal account. Naturally I said I would. So I saw the item at very close to half the price it is here in Ireland. I phoned up the person concerned and he said to go ahead and purchase it. It arrived to my door in my name, I phoned him and he paid me for it. About a week or ten days afterwards I got a bill from customs/duty, again in my name since I had purchased the item on my credit card. I phoned the person and told him. Yeah no problem I'll pay that too he says. He proceeds to give me the run around for six weeks or so. In the meantime I get more letters demanding payment, in my name, for his item. So I ring again, I had asked for the money to pay the bill a couple of times in between - always "next week". This is the good bit. So I need the money for that bill. "Who's name is on the invoice?", mine I say. "Good enough for you, you pay it so". No good deed goes unpunished does it? That call was a while back. We've not spoken since and as far as I'm concerned won't again. So I pay the bill, and get another letter. Apparently they've not recieved it. So now I have to pay it twice as well as interest. The moral of the story is if you have a "friend" like this, walk away. You may be down money at the full stop but that can be made back, while that person will still be a c**t in the morning And all for a few Euro. Mods/Admin, I've not mentioned names but feel free to edit or delete as you see fit. Kindest regards, John

cragman 2,843
That's a bad do' John and a rotten thing to do to ANYONE! I nearly got stung a year or two back when I put some books up for sale. The total for the books came to about £200 and this guy said he'd have the lot. Details were sent of where to send the books and he said the cheque was on its way. In the meantime I parcelled up the books, got a price for postage and intended to send them the next day and wait for the cheque to arrive. That's the type of person I am, trusting of every fecker. I held back with the posting and I'm glad I did...nowt arrived and claims were made that the cheque was, "on its way". Now I've had guys from off these hunting sites stay over at my place and have a days hunting with me and with other members and had no trouble, they've all been sound lads and I've never even met them before. It's a chance I take because they "come over as being nice" on the internet and I'm a kindly c**t. Your experience has made me think though. After all, these messers have no concience and aren't true hunters, but parasites blighting our good name. You never stop living and learning!
trappa 518
Bad news that mate! Its a c*nts trick.period. I was in a similar situation to him a bit back. I needed someone to pay for something on paypal as mine went down. Molly on here paid it for me and ive never met her in my life! What a girl. I made sure she was sent a cheque straight away and i owe the girl a favour as well. What a shame you saw the uglier side of paying for stuff for someone. What goes round , comes round! always has done!
mark01856 7
all your experiances sure make me think how shitty some folk are, but i bought a lamp off some one on this forum, and then a couple days later took me out lamping with him. it shows that decent people are still around it just seems harder to find them! Simoman 110
Unfortunately the world has a fair percentage of ar*eholes but hearing what you did for a bloke you never even met says something about your character and shows there are still a few gents out there

Guest JohnGalway
Cheers lads Only once in a blue moon does this type of thing happen. It's more the principle of the thing that annoys me than the money, which can be made back. Was brought up to pay my bills or to return a good favour if one was done for me It certainly hasn't coloured me against trying to help people out, for better or worse that's just in me I think. I was at my bank today, they confirmed I took the initial amount out for a bank draft and said if it's not been cashed it can be cancelled and recredited to my account, although at best I'll be out minimum 194 Euro after charges and interest it's better than almost 300. I should know by Wednesday anyway. I'm only 29, but one thing I've learned is these things come back to bite people, so there's really no need for me to do anything in the line of getting my own back or anything. I'm putting it behind me and getting on with things As Woodga would say, good hunting all
