my grandad has 3 ferrets and my mum wont even let me have one

I did things the hard way. I tried to smuggle a couple of jills into the house when my mother was out.

unfortunate for me she came home early and i was caught red handed. she wouldn't speak to me for about a fortnight afterward.

Aww but did she come round in the end though :laugh:

I just Would Not give up or give that poor woman a moments respite! I simply made it so that a ferret or a Dog about the place would make Her life bliss: If it would only shut me the **** up with my whineing, nagging and cajoling :laugh:

Mheanwhile, complete the classic Pincer attack by coming at her yeself like a river. Make her eat, sleep and dream Ferrets till it gets so that having the damn things around will be less bother than Hearing constantly hearing ye hinting about them! That's what I'd do. And god help ye mum now! :D

It works, but be prepared for the long haul... took me about 6 years to persuade my mum... when she did finally give in to ONE ferret at some time in the future... she came home from a trip away about a fortnight after saying yes... to find i had two moved in :lol:...

Hello. The only reason I was allowed a ferret without too much parental hassle was because apparently my Dad had wanted one as a lad but his Dad would'nt let him .Mum was " just Mum" about it.After all she'd suffered house-fulls of hamsters ,mice ,grass snakes,newts,God knows what, even eels and a baby pike. In the end she was more interested in my first ferret than Dad.Always saving bits of meat for Sydney (Ok ,maybe not the coolest name for a fred) . She'd come home from work ,sniff, and say, " Hm,you've had that blooming ferret in here again".(Georgina ,do not show your Mum that bit .Anyway ferrets have a lovely subtle aroma.) Sydneys party piece was to scamper from his hutch on the patio,through the patio doors,through the sitting room,up the hall and into the kitchen.Once there he was pretty certain of finding the remains of the cats' milk.Once finished he'd run back through the house,jump in his cage and tackle his own food. My old Mum still talks with affection about Sydney. :thumbs: Good luck with persuading your Mum.

Hi Georgia, why not have a ferret of your own that you can look after at your grandads, you get all the pleasure of keeping your own ferret & none of the hassall from your mom

Best of both worlds :clapper::thumbs:
