I have absolutely no experience or knowledge of autism, so best to adopt the maxim of “say nothing and let people assume I’m stupid, rather than speak and confirm it”.

I lost both my children to cancer, so I know the heartache children can bring.

I wish Bendigo all the best with his son, that’s about all the input I can give

No its about his lad having a few issues at school.a fight etc with a few other bits like left wing teachers in the mix  so was thinking change school or home school mate

Terrible mate, no man would want to walk a mile in your shoes and I can’t even begin to imagine the strength of will it took just to keep putting one foot in front of the other every day.

This thread was never about autism, Bendigo never said that.

It was me that mentioned it as an example of how the common misconception that home schooling somehow turns kids into a social cripple just isn’t true, as in if an autistic lad is a well rounded social being then that’s true for everyone…..it’s not home school that will effect someone’s social skills. 

Bendigo is simply is exploring better outcomes for his boy because the environment he is in is negative for him.

Thats how I understood it and I think I’m right !

Happy to be corrected as always…..just not by folks who obviously don’t know what they are talking about.

Same mate and if that was he route  id take is  what bendigo already said work and with his mates plastering etc something hes interested in thats what I needed

Hes there mate were i want my lad to.be at 13 polite nice lad fit can fight but isnt a bully has some discipline cadets and boxing hunts the right way it would be better me sending  mine to him 

Edited to add hes well rounded at 13 but hes at the point were he can add character to.it bendigo for.me mate

I’m a bit of a stoic and a fatalist mate, so life has to go on.

We are lucky to have a grandson who appears to be turning out to be somewhat of a child prodigy and is unashamedly spoilt rotten by us and his Saudi family, but he is pretty grounded.

Ive no experience of the modern state school system , both my children were privately educated as is our grandson , so I can’t really give any advice on the subject

It comes down to effort mate, you do what is within your power to do given all the various circumstances of your life…..for some like you it will mean working extremely hard and putting your money into giving your kids the best education money can buy, for others it’s being a member of the PTA, a helper or reader in their spare time, other may homeschool if it’s within their power to do that….most people just do the best they can in their own way.

However, far too many just want to Chuck them out at the gate every morning, not give two shits between 8:45 and 16:00 then have the school hand them back Elon Musk after 5 years…..and if goes wonky it’s the schools fault !
