The pipeline itself can be attacked but even if buried I would think the refineries and other network nodes would act as choke points which would be taken out with ballistic missiles to the same affect as shutting the SoH. The best defence against this is diversifying our energy supply. North Sea, fracking, renewables, nuclear. I knew the two lads that had the company that installed and maintained the trace heating on the Saudi pipeline. They did a cable jointing job for me. That would be about 45 years ago. Not as high profile as that but I spent a relatively short time working for a company that carried out pipeline inspection, specifically a novel type with their own product. The one thing that job did leave me with was a real sense of how huge the energy industry is in the midstream. Topical here, I visited the teeside oil terminal to do some product testing, which receives crude by NORPIPE. I was probably a bit naive when I asked them why the pipeline would need trace heating in Saudi Arabia. They said the crude needed to be at a fairly high temperature to flow. Cheers. And I've lost about 6 grand due to plummeting financial markets affecting my stocks and shares ISAS. It's all very well children being blown to bits and the obliteration of the men in beards . It's all very well being worried about a recession leading to a full blown economic depression. It's all very well commentating on Trump letting the cat out of the bag saying he 'wants their oil'. But what about a baldy old coffin dodger like me being inconvenienced and made poorer by this war? Strewth, the inconsiderateness and the Me, Me, Me , mentality of some people beggars belief.
