This 22 Million black hole ?

OK so we were lied to by Reeves so no surprise there.

But what I don't get is for 18 months Labour have been banging on about the state of the economy they had been left with by the Tories so my question is why didn't the Tories stand up and say not true we left with 4.2 million in the black? Did the Tories not know they were in the black when they left government which is just as bad or am I missing something?

It all goes way above my head mate though i tend to think all this black hole and other jargon the politicians come out with is just a smoke screen to keep rinsing us with higher taxes and what not.

We're funding a war thats f**k all to do with us again that has cost billions and were paying for it again

It was the latest financial projection by the OBR for the next financial year. 
The OBR told the Labour government that they forecasted a production downturn for next year that would lead to a £16 billion deficit,(a black hole), BUT increased revenue from taxes would wipe out the deficit and actually result in a £4 billion surplus.

Reeves held a press conference and only released half the information, the black hole deficit and didn’t mention the surplus. There wasn’t any “black hole” !

She used the surplus to pay for benefits rises to appease Labours back benches and imposed tax rises so she would have more money to spend.

The head of the OBR Produced letters they had sent to Reeves and Starmer proving that they had lied about the state of the economy.

As bad as the Tory’s are/were, this was nothing to do with them.

The Labour government lied to us, simple as that ……

Yep just seems mental the Tories havent disputed it. The latest seems to be "tackling child poverty" which must have become a thing since the last budget as they didnt seem to give a shit about the kids when they were dishing out pay rises to the public sector and train drivers!

They would have, when the OBR reported before THEIR budgets, but the OBR report on next years finances is based on the last Labour budget.

The OBR gives its forecasts before every budget. They give the forecast to the government who are producing the budget, not the opposition parties.

What was taken into account is the projected downturn in productivity for next year, and the increase in revenue from the tax take from Labours last budget.

As I said, lower productivity projected for NEXT year will result in a drop of £16 billion, BUT increased tax revenue from Labours previous budget resulted in a £20 billion rise in the finances, leaving a £4 billion surplus. Nothing to do with the last Tory government, in this case.

Its done on a year to year basis.

Reeves only told half the story ; the bad part about the deficit, not the good part about the surplus.

The Tory’s are probably just as bad, but in this case it’s entirely on Labour.

While everyone is talking about “the black hole” and whether Reeves lied or not……they are sneaking doing away with jury trial and digital ID in the back door !

Pay attention lads because the “black hole” is meaningless and the right to jury trial and digital ID is really, really, really f***ing serious !!

Once that  happens like  at magistrates your guilty its just to be sentenced pure communism along with the digital id

Just my opinion, Wilf, but I think digital ID will quietly be dropped due to cost and public opinion. It’s not due to be introduced until 28/29 and Labour will be out of power by then. 
As for jury trials, Lammy is appearing to back track and water down his proposals right now. He probably realised, or more likely had been told, it wasn’t in Labours manifesto and the Lords will do everything to block and delay it, and again, Labour will be out of power by then.

Just my views, but It won’t stop Labour coming back with more “socialist” policies.
