How are they used as bait Mack , something i know nothing about

Same with me. I'm guessing you could glue them onto some cotton put them on a rig. I like to use a sowing needle ,  thread of cotton 6 red maggots on the end of the hook. Make like a hair rig. Score every time.

Easiest way is roe or egg bags trotted through a swim under a float steve, doesn't take long when the pools are packed.

How do they hook them , do they wrap a load of them in a mesh bag and hook the bag or do it another way

A golf ball size spawn sack full of salmon roe can be deadly for the sturgeon in the Fraser river, but if i had to use just 1 bait year round for those big sturgeon it would be lamprey. And not a whole lamprey or big piece either, most people only use them in around 3" pieces...

To be honest i'd say chucking any hook into a fish filled river like that isn't sporting in anyway and i'd be using my cast net more than a rod..

There’s video on YouTube of a guy getting over a hundred salmon in a pool with a cast net,but here your days limit is 5 fish, one throw of a net would get you that many plus. It’s more enjoyable hooking one and stopping it running the rapids into the next pool.

Was joking to be honest but using a cast net does get folks interested until you start to pull in a net full of fish then the on lookers who 30 seconds before thought it a bit cool turn into anti's who think your a proper wrong un for catching so many fish.
