Loads of oil rig lads I know have been laid off last 12 months

It's been declining for decades, due to renewable and control of oil fields elsewhere by Arab US Russia, apparently it goes via the international market so in theory if it were nationalised it could enter our immediate market and supply the UK, meaning we're more energy secure and bills aren't affected to the extent they currently are by outside forces. I believe several European countries do this don't quote me but Norway , Iceland etc. power for the people plus jobs and energy security, it's only big business that doesn't want it . BP made ten billion in profits while we were struggling to pay bills no?

Thatcher sold off our energy supplies in 1981. The figure was somewhere between 2.9 and 3.6 billion.

Norway invested their oil windfall in a special fund which has funded and will continue to fund their public spending for many decades to come.

If we were to re_ nationalise, the oil companies would demand such a high figure as to make the sale unfeasible.

Poor us, water full of shit, electricity prices  the highest in the world and our roads and infrastructure crumbling more each day.

I think multiple governments have shat on us from a very, very great height.

A bit like this.

NEWS.SKY.COM

Thousands of demonstrations have been held across the US to protest at what organisers call...

Somebody needs to tell the Don that the mask goes over his nose.😅

As you know it from 1981 with Thatcher the milk snatcher with oil and removing of milk in schools so no more milk for the kids

It wasn't actually Thatcher who stopped the free milk .. the withdrawal of free milk started before her time. .

Its been reported many a times when the Wells be sucked dry of oil, after a year or two they be filled again

The actual amount of recoverable oil in the North sea is guesswork to a large extent. I believe the ‘additional’ 1.1Bn barrels is a revised estimate. What may be ‘actual’ reserves have been a feature in the game of cat and mouse operators and governments have played around taxation since it was discovered in the 70’s. The additional pawn is the pressure governments are under to phase out fossil fuels, and now how this has been done by high taxation and restricted exploration meaning the industry is teetering on the precipice of a rapid and irreparable decline. The Scottish government in particular are driving this yet delivering none of the promised investment to enable a ‘fair transition’ from fossil to renewable fuels. Ask the lads in the North sea or at Scotland’s only refinery in Grangemouth which shut completely in the last month. Imo the SNP have massively failed to read the room on this, largely to appease the Greens and will pay a heavy price in elections next year.

As for oil not being a fossil and magically ‘refilling’ wells…, can you post some evidence of that?
