Luke Littler.

Beaten by a lass. How did that happen? Can a female keep it up (no  pun intended) and consistently beat men?

If there's one sport where it can happen, then it's darts. Because muscularity is not an issue.

Adds an extra layer of interest to the sport at least.

Littler won the World  Grand Prix of Darts last night , playing some of the best darts ever seen and demolishing the World number one six sets to one.

He said he was entering the World Youth Championship today to show support for the competition and players, probably at the request of the organisers, the PDC to boost coverage.

I doubt he was taking it very seriously, but that said, the girl that beat him is far and away the best woman player in the world.

My missus was world ranked in women’s darts back in the 80’s and since then I’ve never seen a woman player get farther than the second round in any major tournament.

Bristow said their is nothing physical stopping a woman beating the men but he doesn’t understand why they very rarely do.

The girl that beat Littler , Beau Greaves, has just won her PDC Tour Card, so she will be playing men on a regular basis this season, so, as you say, it will be interesting to see how she does.

Cheers.

It would be nice to see her do well and earn a few bob. It would encourage other females to enter the sport. And  since she obviously trains at Greggs, other women of similar stature, won't be psyched out by the emaciated model types.

It's good to see darts having a resurgence. Like snooker, it's made for TV. The camera makes watching more immediately visible  than watching in real life.

There’s a lot of extremely talented players who excel at the “floor” level but can’t make the adjustment to stepping up to the stage, televised level.

When my missus was about to play her first televised semi final, the BDO took her and her opponent on stage and explained about the camera movements and the echo from the mikes behind the board etc.

She needed a couple of vodka and cokes before playing, which wouldn’t be allowed now, of course 😂👍

Cheers.

If total equality, both in peoples minds and in reality, was a real thing….this conversation and conversations like it would never happen because it would just be a normal thing…..it would be like having a conversation saying “the sun came up this morning !”
It would be so mundane it would never happen !

Women are good at some things, some women like some men are exceptional at certain things…..it’s as big as that !
