The NHS is fu*ked

Recommended Posts

My wife has been in hospital for a couple of days with severe abdominal pain, now they think they know what it is but need to do an investigative procedure, so she’s put on the list, estimated time for this to be done is 15 months, now she can’t be in this amount of pain for over a year so we looked at private, we have now got a pre assessment next Wednesday with the same consultant that would be doing it on the NHS and the procedure to be done in around 3 weeks at a cost of around 6k, now we are lucky to be in a position to go private but how many other people are suffering for years before anything is done about it, it’s an absolute shambles

Perhaps if the same consultant and others like him who work for the NHS weren’t moonlighting in private practice, concentrated on there NHS day jobs the waiting lists wouldn’t be so long ?

Just a thought.

I hope your wife makes a speedy and full recovery 👍

Cheers.

First I hope your wife gets the care needed abd makes a full recovery mate..

Secondly, I know your pain only too well..  My wife has had some terrible times in the system over the past 15 years, too many to list and some I still can't believe...one being a nurse putting the wrong blood type up for a transfusion, luckily my wife knows her type and argued., refusing her to administer the blood (which could of killed her), and eventually a senior nurse got the correct blood along with a lot of grovelling ... we've spent a lot of time travelling to London (St Marks) as it offered the best care for her illness, also a week in St Thomas Hospital when our local hospital was almost like a carry on sketch, im not joking when they said "open your bag" and put various creams, ointments, lotions etc inside, saying try them all abd see what works... the medication she'd been on reacted and basically burnt her ftom the inside out, her skin was inflamed and peeling, losing hair all sorts...1 week in St Thomas was unreal, the professor there was like something we'd never seen... they fixed her

Post code lottery maybe, but the longer your "in the system" the more you see abd the more you despair...sad

My Mrs has developed sudden severe pain and swelling on her knee. The doc reckons it's osteoarthritis.  So knee replacement. She's had an x ray. But because it's not urgent, there's a 6 week turnaround just for the result. Then a 2 year wait for the op. We are in our 70s, so haven't got that time to f**k about .  We are going private.... £ 17 grand plus.

I'm in the same boat . Need an op on my foot... 2 year wait. So 6 grand for me for private op.

There is a concept of the social contract or social compact between citizens and government. But government has totally reneged on it. Don't blow your savings lads ...you never know when you'll have to bail the government out of their responsibilities.

I think that just like me they go to work to make as much money as they can to fund the lifestyle they want, my wife is an accountant for the NHS and the money they make from private work far exceeds what the NHS pays

The NHS is hit and miss, even in the same hospital. You have times where it's a nightmare, bad communication, system errors, late appointments, all making you question if we should scrap it. But then you have ordeals where you get swift and first class service where it makes you think we would be lost without it.

It’s why whenever you see some turkey trot out the line “They want to dismantle our NHS” you absolutely know they have not looked into it or taken 2 seconds to think it through !……the NHS needs dismantled, root and stem because it’s a total f***ing, not fit for for purpose, shambles’s !

It’s cultural, absolutely 100% !……..there’s a endemic culture of ordinary and defeat !

They actually believe their own propaganda of “we don’t have enough money”, they have been trotting out that line so long ! And now, that’s the excuse for shit service !

The NHS gets more than the military, it eats a gargantuan amount of money every single year.
For this everyone is paying about £60 a week ! Maybe a bit more now……Private is £30 !!

For £30, you will get seen by a specialist right away in an immaculately clean hospital with all the kit, get tests and results same day and the staff under the surgeons are held to account for their professionalism.

My younger daughter had her tonsils out in Harley Street, when the procedure was finished they came to get my wife and take her down to see her, the nurse had forgotten her key card and had to go back and get it.

When they got there the surgeon asked why she had taken so long so she told him and he give her a bollocking “We don’t forget things here, don’t let that happen again!”……..now some may say what’s the harm, but it’s standards !
Tiny details make standards !

The NHS couldn’t give two fucks !…..and they don’t believe they have to because it’s “not our fault” …….its a disease that pervades everything they do !
A surgeon couldn’t give out a bollocking in the modern NHS, he’d be in front of a tribunal in 2 seconds flat !……that’s the culture !

A surgeon appeared before the GMC this week. He admitted to leaving a patient knocked out on the operating table whilst he went off and f****d a nurse.  He was absent for eight minutes. He kept his job. We were paying him for that f**k.

I cannot understand how it takes 6 weeks to process an x ray. You get an x ray back immediately at your dentist or vets. AI could do it within seconds.

People hang on to the belief that the NHS is a wonderful institution because its uniquely free at the point of delivery. But healthcare is free in most developed countries and their outcomes on key indicators like waiting times, cancer treatment , heart attack recovery etc are better than ours .

The NHS is dysfunctional, not fit for purpose, the same as the rest of the UK.

You’re learning old chap ! lol

Jokes aside, another line you will often hear some clown trot out is about “paying into the system so we can enjoy all the benefits”……yeah ?……hows that working out ? Lol

The logic is the same as going in a restaurant, paying a £100 for a plate full of stake and when it arrives it’s only half a plate and it’s gone off and been burnt to a cinder !……no thanks, I’ll keep my money and buy my own ! lol

Amazing what ideas they can establish in peoples heads isn’t it.
