Genology & ancestry

1000 yrs ago is nothing in comparison to our true history, it's basically modern history.

Was just about to say the same, folks are talking like “I’m English or Scottish or Welsh”…..if the results go back say, 1500 years then these nation states never existed….no nation state existed until about a thousand years ago.

The Saxons for instance ranged from modern day Germany across to modern day France.

A good book is “A brief History of The Anglo Saxons”…..very enlightening.

It was thought for example the celts brought the language to Ireland but there's references to places and descriptions of places that go back in our language that predates well before the "arrival" of the celts.

Common understanding up to now was 10,000 yrs ago we were all hunter gatherers living in nomadic tribes etc....but recent discoveraries in Turkey show that up to 12,000 yrs ago there were very established, settled cultures buildings sophisticated monuments....

So DNA science and modern archeology is debunking alot of what we thought was true.

It has always been thought that the cradle of humanity was Sub-Saharan Africa, but skeletons discovered in Morocco are the oldest remains of homosapiens ever found, they confirm that we are much older than we once thought.

That's what's fascinating, go far enough back and we will all share a common ancestor. That's why I have to laugh when folk get uptight when we discuss human history.

Adam or a monkey ?

Just joking mate, don’t want to start the evolutionist v creationist debate again ! LOL !

Cheers.

Sure at one time they think now at least 5 human like species existed on the planet. Until proven otherwise the general excepted theory is modern humans are the number one species for about 100,000 yrs.

Yep, and we interbred with them which makes it all the more fascinating.

Well, there is a mitochondrial Eve. Lol

I’ve actually been to her supposed “grave” at a cemetery in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

The name Jeddah actually means grandmother in Arabic, and Eve is known as “the bride of the Red Sea”.
Cheers.

Science is evolving all the time so is our story. I don't believe we're all descendants of one small tribe because that would inevitably lead to inbreeding which would mean extinction. I buy more into the different human type evolving and interbreeding in different parts of the world and leading to a dominant but varied genetic gene pool.

That's what the latest genetics suggest though mate, all the humans of non African descent come from a relatively small population of perhaps only a few thousand. But, this wasn't the only time they migrated out of Africa, ghost populations have been discovered that are not closely genetically related to us, now imagine that, extinct lineages of modern humans that died out before the last out of Africa expansion.

My only issue with that is the idea of interbreeding. Evolution decided too much interbreeding will finish any species but we all descendants from one female?? But I think there must have been our crosses along the way.

The dna at the start of creation was so perfect that they could inbreed with no side effects, in the beginning there was no illness or disease it was after the fall of adam and eve it started degrading the geneome

I don't think it means that, it doesn't mean that we all descend from just the one woman, Mitochondrial Eve isn't the only ancestor of modern humans, she's just the most recent common ancestor of everyone's maternal line. All the other people of that time also passed their genes, just not unbroken on the maternal side. It's basically a theory which traces the most recent unbroken maternal ancestor.
