It was mate though in all honesty I don't think it was a first x probably a lurcher to lurcher bred dog as we're most lurchers of that era.

Before the books came out and people started to believe what they read , became amateur geneticists and started to try and re-invent the wheel. Not knocking the modern dogs, but the lurcher x lurcher type did/does catch stuff even if being of pedigree unknown. Not a lurcher man though so just my relatively uneducated opinion.

I put this up before but still meks me cringe ,when I was a kid I'd read into plummer books and he said that only half cross collies and 34 crosses were any good lol ,I went 2 a show and some older lads had some proper handy looking dogs ,I asked how they were bred just lurcher lurcher they said  well they must be shite I thought ffs 🤣🤣

After reading up on the heroics of Merle, no other cross will do.
