Anyone arrested and in custody can ask for the duty solicitor. Legal aid is for anyone who needs a solicitor but doesn’t have the means to pay for one. You don’t have to be arrested or in custody to get legal aid. If I had a dispute that needed to be settled in court and I didn’t have the money for a solicitor but, I could apply for legal aid . As I said, have a look at Gov.UK Legal Aid. It’s nothing to do with the duty solicitor at a police station. Cheers.

Whats a “duty free solicitor” ? A duty solicitor is what your provided with at a police station if you ask for one. Legal aid is what you get to fight your case at court. Franks Dad replied to you “legal aid”. You said “ he didn’t have a duty solicitor “ They are two completely different things. Just take it that you didn’t know the difference, it’ll save a lot of time ! LOL ! Cheers.
