Voting Age

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this but the voting age is to be reduced to 16 by the next general election. I was never  interested in politics, not through apathy or ignorance but more that at an early age came to the conclusion that no matter which party is in power they are not going to give the working class anything. Whether you sink or swim is up to yourself. That changed when New Labour took control as they starting taking things away. Following years of incompetence by the Conservatives that party are calling the shots again.

Jeremy Clarkson summed it up as 6th former politics. They are now panicking with the realisation that they do not have the support of the majority and have came up with a rather genius idea of gaining votes come an election, give the vote to 6th formers!

Talking to my lad about this earlier, he's 19, he said a lot of youngsters are more inclined to vote reform as Farage is appealing to.them due to his social.media presence and the amount of memes that are made about him... I think institutionalised Labour voters are one of the bigger problems, always have and always will types... unfortunately the one time a lot bucked the trend Boris made a complete hash of it...

Good post that mate, I think it’s once again another stupid idea where they have massively misread the room…..it’s not old fuckers like me sat in my house of an evening who is at the sharp edge (literally !) of this national f***ing disaster, it’s young people having to deal with with all this and I think they will vote in surprising ways.

I think it's a fallacy to think youngsters are stupid and not wordly wise, they now have everything at their finger tips, most are far more well read than we were at 16/17/18... the majority take education seriously, they are of a different mind set... I don't think this current government is appealing to any age group, and a lot of the youngsters (well at least that are assed to get out and vote), will be pretty well informed, they will spend some time on different platforms to get the info they need.... as I said most older people vote by habit, I can guarantee very few bother to read any manifesto in full...me included

I agree, I don’t think kids are stupid either….I think they will see their shrinking chances and declining society and know exactly what they are looking at.

I would like to see proportional representation. At its best every faction gets a say and no 'off the wall' group holds sway. Critics say nothing will get done as no group will be able to do things their way.

I agree with some things Labour does( or rather did) , some green policies and  some tory/ Farage policies. Better waterd down policies than extremist ones . It works well in other countries.  We are one of the few that still has  the first past the post system.

I agree, but I also think we are well past that point…..common sense won’t change this f***ing insanity !

Now, I’m stealing this opinion but I heard it from an academic and it makes sense to me…..we are IN a civil war ! Right now, at this moment !

Because it’s not at the bombs and bullets stage yet makes it no less a civil war…..we are meeting  all the criteria that always ends up at the bombs and bullets stage.

We are past the tipping point…..well past it.

I'm not saying that kids are stupid, I manage the development of apprentice sparks, plumbers and fitters. Actually most of them are stupid. But most of them grow up eventually, as I did. It's not those types of kids whose votes Labour are banking on. Clarkson said 6th formers, G B Shaw termed it middle class morality.

Starmer is begging he is hungry for the young 16 and 17 to vote alot will not bother they too busy in the own ways even the older age groups can not be bothered to vote can not trust them too much toxic of labour had plans to do and whats going around all of us labour or any of the parties are not up to much

Speaking for myself I was a retarded idiot at 16. I  can hardly recognise my old self. But some 70 odd year olds think and act like children too. So I don't resent 16 years old the vote. Let's hope they make a better job of the country than we have.

I read an article this morning about UK's water. One of the very, very few privately owned water supplies in the world. Apparently many different countries own parts of the industry. But our country is not represented at all. Foreigners own and profit from our water but not us. Starmer made noises about public ownership of water but again has reneged. Hopeless stooge that he is. I wonder if he will end up as rich as Blair?
